Enjoying the new grapple

Go down a hill on wet grass and see what happens!!:shocked: I to learned to always keep something heavy on the back (boxblade/tiller) and stay in 4wd going down hills. :cool2:

Yes, that taught me a lesson in keeping it in 4wd. :)

When I slid on the gravel, I had it in 4WD AND I had a really heavy blade on the back. . .

Kind of panicked (tree coming up fast!) so I hit the button to release the grapple. Did the trick, but the tractor bounced like a roller coaster.

Had you hit the brakes or just released/let off the go pedal? HST or geared? Very unusual for an HST to start sliding with just releasing/letting off the pedal which is just one reason I'm an HST ONLY guy.

HST. I was lightly on the pedal, although I can't say that once I started sliding I didn't panic and hit the brake briefly. (This was a while ago). I think what happened is that as I came down the hill, perhaps moving a bit too fast (I was probably in "Low Range/Rabbit") the tractor started a see-saw motion with the heavy weight on the front and the back making it pivot in the middle. So each time the front end dropped, the rear wheels came off the ground for an instant, and vice versa. I've felt that rocking motion other times as well, although now I'm more aware when it might happen and haven't had a repeat.

desh,
Can you tell me how much the Landpride SGC1072 weights? I looked on the Landpride web site, but I didn't see anything about weight.

414 pounds according to my paperwork. Seems very strong, but not too heavy. Perfect size for my LA 765 loader.

How about price. Reading this thread because I'm seeing a grapple in my future :D:cool2: and since I buy thru Kubota dealer (Barlows) it will probably be a Landpride. Currently have a Landpride HD25 hydraulic post hole digger on order and expect next to be the grapple.

If you have work for it to do, you will wonder why you waited so long to get one.

It was about $3.5K total including grapple, the third function, complete installation, and tax. The third function was about $1K of the $3.5K.

:shocked: First, I have very little use for one but that has never stopped me before.:D I already have the hydraulics installed on the front of my B2650 for my front backhoe. Second I was thinking Barlows told me around $1500 which I am preparing for. Guess I need to nail him down on specific model. I remember he talked about Landpride open bottom with clamping top vs bottom being bucket style. He has always given me pretty fair deals and I think usually about the same prices to everyone. Guess that's why he sells so much all over the country. Any way, I'll get specifics when my post hole digger arrives and I pick it up which should be about any day.
