Stump removal with my B2650 backhoe.

Not for sure how long.I worked on and off for 3 days.Probably about 6 hours total.Biggest problem was the roots going straight down under the stump.I couldn't reach with the hoe so I had to dig the dirt out from around them with the ripper and use the saw to cut them.

That stumps a keeper if it was a fish.

You must have really wanted to get that stump out of there, or your young with plenty of energy.
I bet your glad the soil was sand and the stump had a little time to age.

A stump ripper must really help.

I have took out several stumps in my backyard over the last few years. This was just the next one on my list and i wanted to try out the new ripper.I took another stump out about a month ago.It was 2 trees grown together. That one i had to dig down almost 6 ft around the tree to get it out.The dirt is clay not sand. Its just been so dry this year it turns to powder when you break it loose.Hopefully this winter i will get to take out some sweet gum trees.I hate cleaning up all the balls.

Stumps/Trees grown together can be tough. I recall I left a stump in the ground from a 5" oak I gave up on with my 18,000 lb Excavator. nearest other tree was an 8-10" oak, about 3-4 feet away.

If I had I pulled the little stump, the entire larger tree would have come with it. It was not obvious that the roots were so intertwined.

The one in the photo came out easy.

I had about 11 trees cut when this one was taken down. They were covered in poison oak and I'm allergic. My backyard was almost a swamp in the winter until i started bringing in dirt and building a slope and drainage ditch for the high water table to drain back to the creek. I believe all those years of soggy ground caused the trees to start dying. That and the black ants that got into the trees.Hopefully the next trees i cut the stump will be taller for more leverage on breaking them loose.

No but my guess is a file wouldn't touch it. I thought about taking a grinder to it because I got it as dull as a froe. I think the only sharpening it got was with a with a gas axe.
