Richard, lets try this. You know that if you bend a piece of steel bar it can be bent past the point of just bending, it can bend to the point of staying bent.
If you bend glass, it can bend, but it will always spring back to its original shape, AND you cannot bend it past the point of bending and have it stay bent. At least not without heating it. If you try to bend the glass beyond the point of bending, it fails catastrophically. Obviously some glass can bend way more than others. Did that help any, or just muddy the waters.
