This brings up a hopefully great idea
Since I only use a ballast box for weight
Is there something I could use to replace it that uses only the shaft that I use to inset a ball hitch
I'll have to dig into pictures of what I have
The idea is to remove the 3 point hitch apparatus that I remove now for my leaf vac and keep that removed and just add my sand bags ? With a Carrier with no 3 point needed?
The 3 point bars etc. are a pain to remove and install , tho not to bad but defiantly not a 5 minute task that I am looking for
Sorry to take this thread off topic
Thanks to all

I have an BX1870 with 80 hours on it since April. Love it! Gearing up for snowplowing. I got a hitch cargo carrier and I was thinking of adding driveway salt & sand for weight. I have a inclined driveway so I probably need chains. Any suggestions on View attachment 490614where I should get tire chains?

How do you like that plow? I'm considering it. Is the blade angle hydraulic, if so how do you change the angle?

I to agree you need ballast if you use the FEL and I agree that the boxblade is a great usable ballast. Had never thought about the carrier that fits into a reese hitch which can be added with bar and reese hitch adapter fairly cheap. The fluid in front drive settles after dealer delivery so check it for the first few weeks after use and top off when/ifit drops.
I bought my first and last life time mower 12 years ago with the high priced wheelbarrow on the front BX2200 FEL MMM. I've bought/traded/sold over 20 Kubotas since my first and only one.:D:laughing: My entrance into the tractor world was eye opening with the discovery of how much the little mower would do with the thing on front!!! I later decided I needed more ground clearance and went up in size, not better, just bigger, B7800 FEL and bought a new BX1500 MMM for mowing. The rest is history. I did go up to a L3240 and it was to big for my hillside 5 acres and scary that high off the ground so almost immediately went back to a B3200. Several more BXs and Bs since and Fs and Zs and RTv.
JT, you are an incorrigible Kubota nut.

I suspect you can delete "Kubota" from that and it will still apply to JT. ;) :confused2: Either way I always enjoy his posts. Let's face it, we're all nuts here.

I guess some of us are a little nuttier than others. I have always enjoyed trying something new/different which is why I'm up to around 180 different cars/trucks since 1964 starting with my first being a 1935 Dodge 4 dr sedan. I built or had a 24'x48' metal barn built (always done most of my own building but, shoulder, age, weight required paying someone to do it. I've about got it filled with "stuff" from the on line auctions with the pick up point being about 3 miles from my home. Tell my wife it's cheaper than playing golf......for the "stuff" I buy.....but the storage is getting expensive which is why the gvmnt quit doing the 5lb boxes of cheese, they were paying millions for warehouse storage!!!!!
I also retired again in Oct 2016. Out of Landlording and mostly out of Counseling. Still do some Consulting. My first retirement was in 2001. I keep buying stuff that I'm going to use or do when I get old and retire, like all the wood workshop equipment I have that I never use. Currently looking at/made offer on around 20 wooded acres near me and will know after the first of the year.
Yep, some of us have minds that run on side tracks/spurs.:ashamed::shocked::confused3::cool2::cool2::cool2:

Well, well, well.Found some problems w/new tractor. Last week before plowing first time,I started it up and let it warm up a little while I shoveled around stuff I didn't want to hit.I went to get on tractor and noticed a couple puddles of coolant on ground...popped hood and saw it was coming from where radiator hose goes into top of engine. I took a 10mm socket and tightened it up quite a bit.Didn't look like it was weeping anymore. I went to plow yesterday and guess what-still leaking coolant, but not as much. I checked it out again this morning when cold and not running-was able to tighten the top clamp a little bit again, and I got a few turns tighter on the lower hose clamp. I also checked the front axle oil,as a few people have mentioned that they tend to be a bit on the low side when new. That oil checked out fine, but when I checked the transmission fluid (stick by PTO),I pulled it out and it was dry. Stuck it in again,NOTHING showed on stick(transmission cold).I am beyond p*ssed right now.I also guess I need to double check the wheel bolts,as 2 of the rear ones are put in backwards. Does the transmission oil need to be checked warm or cold? The owners manual didn't specify-does tractor need to be running or turned off to check transmission oil level?

I also guess I need to double check the wheel bolts,as 2 of the rear ones are put in backwards.

Tractors typically only have studs and lug nuts in two positions, just enough to "hang" a wheel on the hub. The rest are bolts.

Check the hydraulic fluid level when warm.
