Pay cash... you got them by the curley's then.

If you are persistent maybe. Nothing in it for the dealer to give you a better deal for paying cash.

I tried that on our last two new ones. Made no difference. The dealer gets paid almost immediately with cash, check or loan papers.

In some cases you have to finance the truck through the manufacturer to get some of the rebates. A good dealer can work around that though.

So if I can buy a used 2012 for $37K, which I'm sure I can, would I be ahead to do that versus paying $52K for a new one???? :)
My father's 2012 Eco Boost Super Crew was 44K sticker. It was bought for about 35k and just sold with 80,000 miles for 25.5K.

Many times people get tunnel vision on new vs used. After rebates and finance rates new can be bought for nearly the same money as a 3 year old one with 36,000 miles.

Yep. Your examples above support buying used AND buying new. Very confusing!!! :)

When I bought my 2011 FX4 new it stickered for $44k and I got it for about $36k...drove it for 4.5yrs and put 100k on the clock and got $22k on trade-in...probably could've gotten closer to $25k if I sold privately...not bad for 4.5yrs and 100k miles. My 2016 Lariat/FX4 stickered for $56k (several more bells & whistles than my 2011) and price was knocked down to $50k before any haggling....ended up getting it for $48.5k. And on 2016 XLTs the rebates and discounts were over $10k off before any haggling. I could've saved even more by getting a leftover 2015 BUT in 2016 Ford moved to Sync 3 (way better) and also supposedly addressed the timing chain stretch issue on the Ecoboost so it was worth paying a few extra bucks to me. Bottom line, as Diamondpilot said you can get a new truck for very close to used prices...if I can get with $3k-$5k of a used one then I buy new.
