How much do you pay for your vehicle registration?

I know of no state that the registration fee is based on miles driven. That is what the 20¢ a gallon gasoline tax (in TX) is for. The more you drive the more you pay. Registration fee for a F150 is about $75 in TX. No yearly vehicle tax.

I wouldn't believe any "news" story found on Facebook. It may be possible that our fees will be going even higher, but it'd be best to look into it on a legitimate news site like MLive. I do believe we'll be seeing higher fees, associated with Snyder's road plan, but I admit that I have been too busy to keep in the know.

Florida:

Annual Renewal:
Wifes SUV: $46 (2014)
My Car : $46 (2015)
My farm truck: $46 (Nissan 2006)
My Heavy Truck: $75 (2003 F-350)
Trailer : $36

6.5%-7% (Depending on county) on sale of vehicle.

Plates range from $55 to $120 and now they want a $10.00 ORV ( Off Road Vehicle) decal for ATV's and Tractor, 1 time deal but still more red tape.

The states relying significantly on per gallon taxes are worried that increasing MPG ratings in years to come will decrease their "revenue*" unless they charge even more absurd per gallon taxes.

* drives me crazy when tax money is called "revenue". Tax is tax.

Good point! Washington State has very high gas taxes as well as sales taxes relatively speaking... almost $0.45/gal. This is second to Pennsylvania. Sorry Richard, didn't put this data in the original equation.

Thank you for allowing me to clarify the situation as I should have mentioned the Facebook post INCLUDED a story from MLive. I also should have mentioned that the increased registration fees will be combined with the sales tax on diesel fuel (currently 15 cents) and gasoline sales tax (currently 19 cents per gallon) both increasing to 26.3 cents per gallon. Excuse me for being skeptical that the additional registration and tax monies collected will be used for the roads in Michigan.

I am right there with you as a fellow sceptic of our state beaurocrats. I already pay $110 for my 99 Saturn, $190 for my 2006 Silverado, and $220 for my wife's 2016 T&C. Our gas tax is more than the surrounding states, and yet we have some of the worst roads. Maybe they should stop taking fuel tax money and dumping it into the MEA.

It's real. The increase was passed and becomes effective January 1. If you have a car that expires later, you can renew up to 6 months early, if I remember correctly, and avoid the increase.
