After buying a 5/16 grade 43 12 ft orange chain that I cut in half to have 2- 6 footers I wanted to add to my collection, there is no where to store them on my B2650 to rig or lift things when you need to. I decided I need to fab up a heavy duty tool box to mount to 2 existing holes in the loader frame to store them. I got some 1/8" steel plate and cut it out to make a 10 1/2" long x 8" high x4" wide toolbox. This size fit nicely in the spot I wanted and was not in the way or too low to snag on something. I welded on 2 grade 8, 3/8" bolts to the back of the box to mount it using a jig I made up to make sure they were aligned perfectly. The biggest problem I had was how to mount the lid. I could not put hinges on the inside and open it towards the tractor due to things in the way. I didnt want to bolt or weld hinges on the outside because I wanted a nice clean look. I decided to make the lid pivot and swing open, with a spring in the front and a heavy duty draw hasp in the back to secure it.
