Winter tires for tractor snow removal

You could trash just about anything with a setup like that. I'd love to have one :)

Believe me, you'd need two: one to pull out the other one when it broke and three if you were in the logging business as one always seemed to be down. New stuff must be so nice to operate. For our operation, it was like when you'd start the new school year in grammar school and you'd get the two year old box of beat up crayons. Not a single skidder was running when the owner would buy them.

Those chains in the skidder pics Garandman sent don't look heavy...do they. Those center rings are 10" across.

That was exactly what I was thinking! 1 beat up 648 is worth 2 of them cats and will run circles around them! CJ

Should be pretty good, but I agree with Roy that any turf tire will work well, MUCH better than industrial tires.

Go to Tractorhouse.com and look at the L6060HSTC or L5740HSTC for sale in Quebec. Most of the units are set up for snow removal and they all have the Nokian. They look pretty good, probably work for most of what I do with my R4s in the summer.

I think we in the US should start spelling tires tyres. I realise that this is a shift from tradition.

I've always used R-1's and never found the need for anything "exotic". I get very little ice on any of the surfaces I clear - mile long gravel driveway, mail box area, yard.

Me too. Chains work wonders if you have traction issues and are a fraction of the cost of another set of tires.
