My truck is in the ditch!

They showed up on the preview, but not after I pushed the reply button(???)

Anyhow and update; Went to the tow shop and the guy said he was 80% sure he couldn't get it out. He gave me the name of a heavy duty tow shop in Spokane. Called them and they said $500/hr and it would be 3 hours just in getting there and back.... Forget that.

So I went to visit an introduce myself to a dryland farmer who lives on the other side of the ridge from us (1 mile as the crow flies, 10 miles by road).

Without hesitation he hopped in his 125 hp 4wd Case and plodded through the snow and came over the ridge. He hooked on to the back, lifted it about 2' off the ground while I backed the truck back on to the road with him dragging me. Absolute piece of cake! Took about 2 minutes followed by 15 minutes of BS'ing. I gave him a healthy tidbit of cash and he was tickled pink. Don't know why the guy with the 100 hp couldn't do the same. But it is out and I am happy.

I am moving the chains to the front and putting a scoop or two of gravel in the back.

I am glad you found the help you needed. If you have not done it already leave the chains on the rear and purchase a second set for the front.

You will be much better off with chains in the front and on the rear if you load some type of ballast weight in the box.

Looking at the tread pattern on your front tires picture....

It doesn't look like a good traction tread at all. Are they worn down? There's almost no tread on the center of the tires.

That said, Yokohamas are without a doubt, the worst all season tires I have ever owned on a passenger car. I just threw a new set of Yokahamas into the weeds and replaced them with Michelins after noting that a 3800 pound car took three times as long to stop on a given stretch of road with new Yokahams as my 6,000 pound F150 with 1/3rd worn out Michelin MS2s. Now with craptastic 90,000 mile warranty Michelins on the car, I'm no longer afraid of snow and ice.

X2, leave those chains on the rear, add new ones on the front.

My dually, same configuration (ext cab long bed 4x4), is a d@mn tank with chains front and outside rear...

Congratulations CF - seasoned farmer with a good sized 4wd tractor, chances are this wasn't his first rodeo extracting machinery. He'll appreciate the cash, and I'm sure you still got a good deal compared to commercial rates.

I might be wrong looking at those pics - it looks like that lane has almost a sideslope going towards the ditch. If so, that might be a good spot for sizeable retaining wall blocks (as a curb) or even K barrier if you can get/move them.

If you don't tow heavy with that truck during the Winter, how about taking the outer rear wheels off till Spring ?
