Over the seven years of owning the M6040 I seen a lot of varied opinions on maximum implement size for my tractor. My owners manual - which also covers the M7040 - recommends 84" and 1200# as being max size rotary cutter for both M6040 & M7040.

My concern has always been - to get a heavy duty rotary cutter - example Brown or Bush Hog - its not so much the PTO HP that limits my choice as it is the companies recommendations for maximum implement weight. I guess it has a lot to do with how "hard" you will be using the implement.

Anyhow - I continue to muddle on and, I guess, one day I may purchase a rotary cutter.

BTW - your Operators Manual for your new M7060 should have a page titled - "Implement Limitations".

No manual yet as I haven't taken delivery. I went with the BH Batwing 12' which calls for between 50 & 75 PTO HP. The M7060 is rated for 64 PTO. I believe the 84" limitation is for a lift type cutter although the 1200# limit is curious as the tractor is capable of lifting over twice that weight with the 3 pt.

I had a concern about the front of the tractor being too light so I purchased a mount and suitcase weights for the front. Bush Hog calls for 20% of tractor weight on the front. I'll still be a little light, but I'm going to try it first before adding more.

what is the pto hp requirements of the LP RC2512? what is your pto hp, around 62-65? then take into consideration heavy growth, etc. & be ready to keep the blades sharp. that's where i'd start does that batwing model require 2 remotes? do you have 3 for good measure? good luck

No heavy growth, just pasture land. I kept my 6 foot BH cutter which I can use for clearing. 2 remotes on my tractor which is what the BH 1812 requires.

Just good to hear other opinions on here to make sure I'm not way off base.

Thanks,
HP

don't forget how far back a cutter hangs for that measly 1200lb rating! My MX10 ONLY weighs 1700lbs but without the front end loader or suitcase weights, the front end will easily come off the ground if I pick the tail wheels off the ground.

Yes, I think Kubota's concern, and why they recommend such tight limits on rotary cutters is - look at where the center of mass is for any rotary cutter - way back there. And they may also be expressing concerns about the "leveraging" a rotary cutter has, etc, etc. Plus this "Implement limitations" page was probably due for an update years & years ago........

My page showing "Impelment limitations" is odd in other ways. Looking at the section on disk harrows - its broken down into 3-point, semi-mount & towed. Not so for rotary cutters. The breakdown is for flail or rotary with no mention of the attachment method for rotary.

Fortunately, my need for any type of rear mount cutter is very limited and has not become any more urgent in the 34 years I've been here.

For some strange reason this quandary hasn't limited my expenditure on other implements.............

I think the implement limitations is a joke in the manuals. It is not an accurate reflection of what the tractor can do.

My manual for my MX lists 7' 1000# as the biggest cutter. and most heavy duty 6' cutters exceed that weight. I use a 8' 1620# cutter with no issues
It list a max of 2x16 plow. It pulls a 3x16 with no issues at all to full depth in heavy clay-type soil.
It tells me a max of a 7' pull type disc. (something an 8n could drag around all day long and not break a sweat). I pull a 11'8" JD210 disc
Rear blade max width....72" What a joke. I have a manual 7' 700# blade and am looking for a hydraulic 8'

Heck, for the backhoe, they list max digging depth 90", max weight 990, subframe: Necessary. Which is odd, because the BH92 they put on the MX weights double that, and digs to 110":confused2:

In this conversation there is some bouncing back and forth concerning weight limits. Those limits are involving 3pt. Herky is buying a pull type. It'll be a pleasure to run with the 12' pull type. Good choice!!!!

Congrats on the new tractor!!!!! Post pics when you get it home!!!! :)

Caught a glimpse of one of your fellow pilots buzzing by last Summer. Their low flight pattern goes right over my farm. They fly out of Rose Crans Airfield in St Joseph Missouri. I've flown 1000s of miles in C130s starting in Vietnam. Flew two trips from Kuwait to Djibouti Africa in them. Deeply respect and appreciate every crew that has hauled my "Grunt" butt around the World!!!

My neighbor with an M7060DTC pulls a 10' mower in thicker grass with no problem.

What type or brand of three bottom plow are you pulling?
