What size cutter for an M7060?

HP, I have a 70 horse. It's not orange, but I don't think that's important. Here's my experience.
My TN70A handles my 10 pull-type cutter just fine. In fact, it's a lot less strain than my 7' 3pt cutter. A twin spindle, with two 5 1/2' blades doesn't pull it down as much as the single spindle 7' cut.

I don't have either a 7 or 8ft cutter. But I've heard several guys say the 8ft twin spindle doesn't pull any harder than the 7ft single spindle.

I have a M7040 and run a Landpride 10FT dual rotor cutter. I've never had any problems but on steeper ground, I take things very slowly because it does make the front end pretty light. As far as having enough horsepower, Ive yet to bog that mower down.

Agreed

I have 5, 6, 7 and 10.5' rotary cutters, all HD models and all three point mounted. I am currently considering an 8' mounted cutter as I rarely use the 10.5 cutter so could replace both it and the 7' cutter.

7' rotary cutters pull hard and are long, resulting in lots of weight far from the attachment points.

Currently, I'm using the 7' cutter with a 90 PTO HP M9960 with EPTO. Depending upon cutting conditions, it's often all it wants when in EPTO (540 PTO speed at approximately 1800 engine RPM). I sometimes find myself in low range 6th or even 5th gear. Of course, it plays with it when not in EPTO because the engine is operating at about 2,600 RPM for 540 PTO RPM, and the PTO gearing provides much more PTO torque.

I'm expecting the 8' twin spindle cutter to pull less hard.

FWIW, I use a BB720X Woods 6' cutter with a 53 PTO HP L6060 HST CUT. It's often more than it wants.

That 10.5 ft cutter is not one you lift on the 3pt is it ?

Yes. It's a Woods MDS 1260. It can be operated either fully or semi mounted. I operate it fully mounted.

Yeah I think the 12' Batwing will be no problem.

It's hard to give advice for cutter size. Totally depends on material being cut and cutting height. For me, if I let my fescue and water grass in my waterways get ahead of me I'm looking for some low gears to run my 10' mounted behind my M9540. :)

Agreed.

Cutter size depends mostly upon what one is cutting, how often one plans to cut it and how fast one plans to travel when cutting. Heavy grass pulls MUCH harder than does tall weeds/brush. Brome grass that is laying down pulls like a snow blower.
