What type or brand of three bottom plow are you pulling?

Dont know. Either a Ferguson or dearborn, But I think ferguson. I am may have mis-spoke earlier and it may be a 3-14, really cant remember now. But the manual is just way too conservative across the board.

In this conversation there is some bouncing back and forth concerning weight limits. Those limits are involving 3pt. Herky is buying a pull type. It'll be a pleasure to run with the 12' pull type. Good choice!!!!

Congrats on the new tractor!!!!! Post pics when you get it home!!!! :)

Caught a glimpse of one of your fellow pilots buzzing by last Summer. Their low flight pattern goes right over my farm. They fly out of Rose Crans Airfield in St Joseph Missouri. I've flown 1000s of miles in C130s starting in Vietnam. Flew two trips from Kuwait to Djibouti Africa in them. Deeply respect and appreciate every crew that has hauled my "Grunt" butt around the World!!!

I've been flying Herks for 25 years. Great airplane. I've flown out of Rose Crans for training back in 2001.

Yes - pull type 12' cutter for me. That doubles what I have been cutting with (6'). I'm sure I will appreciate the time savings.

You can see in my Avatar and signature I pull a 15 foot Land Pride batwing with my Kubota M6800 which is the older model of the 7060.. no problems. Slow down in thick stuff and I am very careful on hills and uneven terrain...as I would be with a 6 foot cutter.

What acreage do you have to mow ? I find a 7ft hog on my MF2660 will cover about 2.5 acres per hour routinely unless I am cutting heavier brush involving a lot of maneuvering. My 7ft model 792 Bush Hog weighs 1460 lbs. I really doubt if an 8ft hog is the right idea for you. A wider batwing is hard to justify unless you mow a lot of acreage. The batwing also has a lot of baggage including storage space and lack of maneuverability.

Not trying to justify any company's recommendation but remember many manuals are not written for the reasonable person but for the unreasonable's person's lawyers. Also don't miss there is a much wider variance in how loads vary using any implement such as with cutters what you are cutting, how thick, grade (roll over danger much more so than with a pickup) and also the speed desired to operate at. They also do not use a certain brand of implements and must allow for variance between the brands.

You could pull a 15' batwing. I've had no issues with 12' behind my M5040

Yes, I'm sure it would probably be okay, but a 15' would be just too big for my needs. The 12' is just about right and I have to draw the line somewhere on how much I'm going to sink into a cutter. I believe the BH 1812 will provide many years of good service.

I went back and forth on the 12 vs 15. Neighbor has the 12. In the end (in my area), I thought the 15 might sell better should I decide to sell it. The 12s cut beautifully and you will be happy with it.

I recently purchased a M7060 after having run a 6 foot 3pt BushHog behind an MX5100 for the last 5 years. The dealer said he wouldn't recommend anything bigger than an 8 foot pull type behind the M7060. That doesn't sound right to me - I'm thinking up to 12 foot batwing. Maybe something like the LP RC2512. I have moderate hills to mow. What do you all think?
HP, I have a 70 horse. It's not orange, but I don't think that's important. Here's my experience.
My TN70A handles my 10 pull-type cutter just fine. In fact, it's a lot less strain than my 7' 3pt cutter. A twin spindle, with two 5 1/2' blades doesn't pull it down as much as the single spindle 7' cut.
