New 2017 Deere 2R series tractors

That's good Yanmar makes nice stuff. I'm interested to see the 25hp version when it comes out too.

Hello there Milo. If you are referring to the John Deere 2025R as the 25 horsepower version; John Deere is not going to make that model anymore. For 2017 they will just make the 2032R and the 2038R tractors. I was talking to one of the local JD dealer salesman, and that is what he told me. He stated/described that a that buying a 2025R was a step sideways from buying a 1025R (not really a step up) - you don't really gain anything. The 1025R has nicer features (the quick connect deck, extra fender light included, a better seat, etc.) and the same horsepower just a slightly smaller package.

You could always look at the new 3025E tractor. Basically a 3032E turned down to 25 horsepower.

Okay ignore this post. :duh:

One of the 2R videos on you tube says there is a new 2025R small chassis coming later on.

Hmmmm. Okay then. I guess the dealer salesman was wrong then. I will look up the video. You have my curiosity peaked now. :)

Don't be too surprised, it took my salesman almost 2 weeks to find out about the new 6 year power train warranty when I ask him about it.

I've been debating whether to get a 1025R or the 2038R. Local dealer says they will have the 2038R in a couple weeks to test drive. Got a quote for about $23,5 on the tractor and another $4K for the 72" belly mower. Pretty much $10K more than the 1025R. This 2038R should be more than I'd ever need, so I'm not sure it's worth the extra cash vs the 1025R. I am wondering how well it would do in tighter spaces and used mostly as a mower with some FEL and PTO work occasionally.

I really wanted a 2 series tractor for the mowing deck. The 1 series is not enough tractor for me, loader is not heavy enough, the 3 series is what I needed but found a used 4 series at a good price. That being said it's not too big, don't worry about buying too much tractor. As a mower and tractor, I think the 2 series is the way to go.

JD seriously needs to make something that can compete with Kubota's B series. The current 2 series, for example, is way too big, and the 1 series is too small (for my needs anyway, I have 5 acres in the county).

I'd honestly like to buy a JD, but they don't make something that fits my needs. I've talked to my small JD dealer about this, and he says Kubota is totally eating JD's lunch in the compact tractor segment. The Kubota dealer is in town, and I'd have to pay sales tax on it, but if I bought something at the JD dealer, I would get the no tax farm incentive.

Make sure about the tax rates and how they are applied, if you and your location qualify for the farm rate then either dealer should be able to handle the paperwork.

About tractor sizes maybe it is just me but I find that all the popular brands seem to make many different sizes. You mention that a 1 series is too small and a 2 series is too big, how is that possible? I use an x700 l&g for small stuff and 4 series for larger jobs and manage to get everything done. Sometimes I would like to have a 6 or 7 series but not the payment book.
