Probably wait until warranty is over. I hope Cabela's will do warranty work even though they are not selling tractors. They tell me they will but not so sure myself. I had another TYM tractor and never had much problem while it was under warranty.

Greetings Bud, my point is 2 issues not just one. Warranty requirements for the tier 4 needs it the first issue. But the second issue is that service centers have a responsibility to maintain the clean air pollution control equipment that each machine is designed for. They would want to do it because they don't want responsibility for something failing and they would get liability for it (during or after warranty). My point is disconnecting or tampering with tier 4 equipment is OT in any way like disconnecting the seat sensor plugin for neutral or backup functions. It's not like running straight muffler pipes instead of baffled. I believe the tier 4 Issues are far less than the issues of willingly disconnecting or circumventing them.

I have to agree with AxleHub on this. Leave the tractor alone at least while under warranty. Let the dealer maintain the tier 4 add ons and see how it goes. You may find it is a pita but you also may find it is not a big deal.

I will until the warranty is up. This DPF is easy. It is bolted together in the middle. It can be taken apart and the filter inside removed in one piece. It does not damage it and it can be reinstalled any time.

Disabling the DPF is not purely a mechanical modification. You will also have to address the computer. It is possible if you just modify the DPF, at a minimum, you will have a perpetual check engine light (or something similar) or the computer will put the engine in "limp in" mode which will render the tractor essentially useless.

That is my point. 20 years ago a feature like the safety sensor on the seat effected nothing but mechanical so people learned they could "decouple" safety features. Many other similar examples exist. But today. . . Egr valves on semi trucks are integrated into the computers and tier 4 issues on tractors are integrated into heat sensors and temp sensors and flow resistance/back pressure sensors. And there are lots of things coordinated together that are electrically and pressure and temperature related. I think Bud is underestimating all the engineering complexity that tractors have (and the value that engineering provides). +or 4 is not "just" pollution and clean burning control. . . . it has other purposes and benefits too. You can't just change tier 4 to tier 3 by uncoupling one or two things. Jmho

Besides. . These are nice tractors and by the time his warranty is completed he'll find it works pretty darn good just the way it's. I think you make a good point Jaydee.

Tractor.jpgTalked to the mechanic when I picked up the tractor. He's old school like me. "Turn up the pump and roll coal". :) He said it would not trough any codes if I took the filter out of the DPF canister. He also has the scan tool and can reset the computer at any time. Nice guy, I hope he works for Cabela's for a long time.

Does it have an oxygen sensor downstream of the DPF?

If it does it will probably throw a code.

Has two sensors. I think they monitor flow. Was told I could deny request to run regen cycle as many times as I like, but the end result is that the DPF would stop up at some point. How many hours I don't know. I use a tractor a lot in the winter running a 3 point log splitter pto pump at around 1k rpm. Tractor won't like that. The benefits of removing the filter outway any problems it may cause. If I have too I will just buy a scan tool for it down the road.
