26F this morning, about 3" more inches of snow after I ran the snowblower last night. Daughter left early this morning since there were reports of freezing rain around the area in addition to snow.

RNG, you need to go white water rafting on that river! Hang on...

Massey started in three seconds in 12 degrees. No heater.

I will have to mow spring weeds.

So do I need to cut some more firewood?

Yes, If you have a wood fired boiler to power air conditioner/chiller.

RNG, I never got to drive through that redwood tree.

21°F and clear skies here this morning, going up to 41° today. Had 3° and 6° mornings over the weekend, and we're now expecting highs in the 50s and 60s for the rest of this week. :confused2: Then, we plunge back below freezing on Friday.

We ran into our first remodel snag on Friday; termites. Carpenter peeled back some flooring in the bathroom - which we knew was soft, but thought was from water damage - and found an active colony. Not good. We've been paying a service for about 10 years to provide treatment and bait traps. Wife was seriously hot about this, and is calling them this morning. I feel bad for whoever answers on that end.

Keep us posted on this. Wonder if they have some insurance to cover the inevitable?

But it was brutal. I still get a chuckle when someone thinks they live in the South and the State they live in starts with a North.

Now Don, I was born and raised in NC, we had Spanish moss, palm trees, big rattlers and coral snakes and most winters little to no snow. It wasn't the frozen tundra. Winter usually lasted about 6 weeks, and like you guys sometimes it got cold and snowy, and sometimes it was 100 and humid.

Now having said that, it was 2° at daybreak but it's up to 18° now. Thankfully mid 60's are due by Thursday.

RNG, I hope those rains fill up everything they can.

Well Kyle, just looking out the back window I can see the level in Lake Oroville is up by about 10' or so. And on the news the other night they interviewed someone on the state water board that said that they've increased releases from the dams to make room for what they said were going to be record inflows from the storm. This in an effort to avoid overtopping the dams, which apparently causes flooding below the dam sites. So avoiding flooding in the drainages appears to be a higher priority than filling up the reservoirs. And when actual rainfall doesn't measure up to the predictions, the reservoirs don't get filled. Classic case of dammed if you do, damned if you don't.

Don't worry, Don, there are still several drive through trees out here still waiting for you. This page lists three of them, all on the northern coast. The one that blew over was a Sequoia in the Calaveras area of the Sierra Nevada foothills. There are probably others as well; Google is your friend... ;)

No major plans, yet. Need to wake up first.

Be safe
Have a great day

My neighbor had a claim with Terminex. It took 2 years and court, got $5k, damage was closer to 15k. A lot of the guys doing this are scammers.

That's who we've been using, too. I have no idea of the extent of the damage yet. They were supposed to be sending someone out today to look while the carpenter opens the rest of the floor. Guess I'll find out when I get home from work.

That's funny. Always heard if you ordered one you could watch it be built. Don't know as I've never been to the museum much less the plant.

Both of my boys were born in Bowling Green. The closest Lowe's or HD is there. Also the closest mall and Harbor Freight. I'm in town a couple of times a month. Have to drive by the museum to sell cattle. But never stop.

Don hopefully you're not needed. Wife's uncle turned one over about 3 years ago. Took him over a year to get back to work.
