Nothing about the unimog is poorly designed.... I have one and the flex is beyond belief. Just google images 'unimog frame flex' and see what you get. No comparison to jeeps.

I've not seen yours....is it the same as the one in this thread? How does the tire flex upward when it sits just a few inches from the fender?

My Jeep would flex fairly well.

Have you ever tried to get flex out of a stock Jeep??? They'll barely run over a concrete block......

Yes, I've ran a stock Jeep a time or two. Built one up from stock to one that did quite nicely, if I say so myself.

You can see it at www.stu-offroad.com if you want to spend a couple of minutes to look at it.

Yep. Then add their weight capability and that separates them even more.

It wouldn't flex fairly well with a loader and backhoe strapped on it.

As you already know, upward flex isn't what's most important, droop is. Your picture is an example of that.

Yep, I've built several Jeeps as well. If Jeeps were truly capable in stock form there would be less need to build. :)

Actually the "rebuilds" are time oriented more than hour oriented. It would have been 15 years old when rebuilt. That's about right. Regardless of use.
Ok, maybe I misunderstood the ad. I thought it meant those were the miles and hours after the government rebuild.

I can't guarantee what I'm saying. Just going by our AMSA shop that maintained our equipment. If the hour meter or odometer was replaced that was noted in the maintenance records. It's an assumption on my part that the seller is divulging the visible information. A quick walk around of the machine would tell the true story!!!! In the pic it appears to be very lightly used. The hours/miles displayed would be appropriate for a machine that's hiway exercised a couple times a year. :)

My Dad bought new CJ 7 in the late 70s, when my parents divorced. Kind of a mid life thing I guess. It was the only plain one on the lot, was bright orange and had an extra heavy suspension. My Dad drove a lot through the states in sales at the time. That poor man suffered mile after mile in that thing, feeling every crack and expansion joint in the road.

I wouldn't be surprised if Xfaxman has one of these.:D

:D Don't need it, it won't go in the woods where the V417 can go, or do what the V417 can do.

The old CJs were head and shoulders above the previous "flat fender" edition Jeeps. But they were still pretty crude. Rough riding, hard steering/braking and cold in Winter/hot in Summer. :)
