62°F and no rain since midnight

Got a bit of mowing in yesterday. Major accomplishment was snaking 2 #6 conductors into the conduit from PV combined box to Outback for my new charge controller. New PV panels to be delivered today. Errands in town later.

Be safe
Have a great day

Good Morning! 50F @ 9:00AM. Periods of rain and wind. Rain becoming heavy at times this afternoon. High 49F. Winds SSE at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of rain 100%. 1 to 2 inches of rain expected. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

0.3" of rain last night, and another 0.3" since midnight so far today, another two inches predicted for the rest of the day. It's been raining constantly, but with the winds this high I'm wondering if all of it is making it into the rain gauge.

A friend of mine lives in South Lake Tahoe and apparently he's been getting a lot of snow lately. Thought some of you folks could relate to this story he posted this morning.

Several years back a friend was trying to sell a Corvette and I toyed with the idea of buying it. Right up until I priced insurance; it was over $1000/year even though by then I was already in my 50s and had a spotless driving record. And this for a mid '80s car with a mid level engine package. :confused2: The last thing I needed was another vehicle that screamed "arrest me"; it's bad enough with the motorcycles already.

Got another piece of headliner cloth ordered yesterday for the van. I'd overlooked the plywood bottom for the upper bunk; it forms a ceiling of sorts over the rear seat and cargo area. Now it'll be covered with clouds like the rest of the overhead areas. And since the board is flat and not too large, it'll make a good place to start learning how to glue the stuff on.

Then started getting my oldest Macbook ready to sell. Found a 750Gb hard drive in the drawer that will fit it and am doing a "government erase" on it. Multiple passes of writing zeros everywhere takes a long time. Almost 24 hours so far and it's only about a third done. Then found that the DVD/CD drive wouldn't swallow a disc anymore, so took it out to see what the trouble was. There's some kind of pin keeping the disc from going into the drive, and the pin is hooked to an actuator that doesn't seem to be moving. My guess is it's a software problem, so hopefully a freshly formatted hard drive and a new copy of the OS will fix it. Sure had fun playing with all those itty bitty screws though. (NOT!).

Also set up another security camera, but will need to install a power outlet where it will be mounted. Might get that done today as it's a good day to fiddle with inside projects.

18 degrees this morning, and oh so much more pleasant now at 64 in Charleston SC. About six hours, three times the interstate went to one lane for concrete repairs, big square blocks being replaced, but the traffic moved.
got a nice site here and didn't have to disconnect the truck so easy off tomorrow to Jacksonville.

My niece will be here shortly from her home I think across town and we are going to dinner across the street, most conveniently, at a farm to table restaurant she has been wanting to try. Has a one year old baby, doesn't get out much...and my timing stunk because her husband was on the road this week. But she got a sitter and she can catch up with her Uncle too.

nice to be warm again

Made it to 63°F today, with rain on and off. Currently 61° and clear skies at 4:50pm in St. Louis. Hard to believe that just a few short days ago it was 3°. Gotta love winters around here. Rarely boring, that's for sure.

The National Corvette Museum is open daily and very enjoyable to see. We've been members of the NCM for many years. You can also get a tour of the Corvette Plant, located on other side of 446, on most days.

Corvette even has an option for you to assist in building your own engine for, I believe, the Z06 and Grand Sport. They have a big charge to use your labor.

Not much for haulin' hay but, excellent for haulin' azz.

Brings back good memories. Had 68 Vette with last of the 325's. Great car to drive. But in 71 I took up snowmobiling and dirt bikes. Sold the Vette and bought a pickup. :ashamed: Would like to get another Vette but probably is not in the budget anymore.
The engine plant is the opposite direction from proving grounds from my place. About 4 miles away. I will second a visit to the Corvette museum and plant. Very interesting tours. And I spent many years in car assembly plants. Serviced our machines in Corvette plant when it was in St Louis.

What is the speed limit before the 45mph crurve? That is one bad looking downhill curve.

All 45mph, this is right below my house.

Got a police car sitting at the end of my drive with it's lights flashing. Road still closed, lots of vehicles still down at wreck site. Might be fixing guard rails, or cleaning powder cement off the road. Trucks haul bulk powder cement.
