Buying Advice Info on mahindra 2538

I ONCE ran a diesel "dry" (by mistake), and I will try to avoid a repeat of that mistake.
If you want to know how much your tank holds you might just try a measuring stick (if it is a straight shot to the bottom), or siphoning the tank dry.
Changing a fuel filter is a lot different than allowing the engine to run the tank dry.
With minimal effort, the diesel will likely pick up the fuel to start,..... after a fuel filter change.
After everything is run dry though ..... big pain in the axx!

If it's anything like mine, you'll drain the tank when you take the 1st fuel filter apart (the one with the cheap paper element) to change the filter anyway. It's best not to fill it up till you've changed the filters or you'll just be doing it all over again.

I read your post on this a few times. I was thinking of adding a shutoff in the line between the tank and first filter. I'm seeing several from small engine manufactures on Amazon- do you recall the hose size?

No all I can remember is that it has a banjo fitting on it I think. It might be safer just to cut the tube and add something inline.
I'd like to add something to the drain on the bottom of the filter can so I can check for water without needing to remove the engine access side skirt on mine. On the 1500 you can't access the fuel drain on the bottom of the filter without removing the skirt which is a PITA. Just screw a fitting in to replace the 10mm bolt and then some tubing and a drain cock should do it.

Ok I'll add a tee and 2 valves- one to shut off fuel at the tank and one to drain.
I won't be back to my tractor till next week. so I will measure then and order the parts. I'll take photos and post here.

I have been intently researching kubota & Mahindra tractors for awhile now. I have settled on a Mahindra 2538 Cab HST. With loader /backhoe, pallet forks & rear grader blade. I've did what I thought has been due diligence on the company & customer service performance. I have found some nightmare stores , not a lot, just a few that give cause for concern.... I would appreciate any feedback from any of you fellow members of tractorbynet on any good, bad & ugly experiences with your 2538... I'm second guessing my decision now..... look forward to hearing what has been experienced.

I bought my Emax22 from Jeff the guy who owns and operates the Mahindra dealer in Bethany Connecticut they are excellent and very knowledgeable and as they told me I will probably never have a problem with that particular machine and knock on wood I have not. And although I am a homeowner and it is a sub compact model I have worked the crap out of it and done some very heavy work and it has been great.
I priced it and compared the specs on the BX 25 and went with the Emax and I am very happy with it. Jeff and his brother are extremely knowledgeable of their products and I'm sure will be more than happy to show you their units as they did for me.

I looked closely at the 2538 and 1538. Ultimately I settled on the 1538. The dealer had a good discount on it and I was willing to pay a bit more for the loader control next to the seat. With a cab model I would be hard pressed to go with the 15xx unless I found a dealer who had one and wanted it moved!

I am happier than a pig in mud with my 2538 HST! (Sometimes I literally am a "pig in mud" with the machine.)
Stay in touch with your dealer/service techs if you see anything strange happen, but I've not had any issues. I would suggest asking your dealer to make sure they have the best ECU tune from Mahindra for your machine. Mine ran great initially, and then at 40 hours they updated the programming and it it's even better now. My hours are low at 60, but it's been run hard and nothing has been troublesome yet.Go search through posts made by me to see some grapple capability shots and a load of other comments. You may decide you need a grapple afterwards! Hope it all goes well.
