8 oz. isn't a steak. It's a meat fragment!

Nah, that's not a steak. A steak is 16 to 20 oz, bone in, rib eye... PERIOD

Don't misunderstand...there was a time when I could actually finish a big chunk of steak but that was a long time ago. My portion size on any food has shrunk. Now onto your bone-in rib eye (which actually is more than the eye of the rib), I have noticed the increased availability of "bone-in". Guessing quality affordable meat saws might be the reason. I don't think a 16-20 oz cut is thick enough though. Go with the 32 oz, eat what you can and take the rest home. Had one a few weeks ago and got 4 meals out of it!

We are very fortunate to have a great butcher less than a mile away. We get a whole strip cut as we wish cheaper than supermarket when on sale. I vacuum pack and freeze.

There was a day when I would put away a 32 oz Porterhouse, no problem. I still can eat a lot, just choose not to. I still cook big steaks but hold myself to about 10 oz and save the rest for steak sandwiches. Yum.

That "choosing not to" is how I lost 1/4 of my body weight and still got to enjoy the foods I love! And I agree...a 2" cut of steak cooked medium rare will last well into the week. I watch the sales and buy the whole pieces that I cut and wrap myself. Wife prefers sirloin, I like the rib.
