It's not a dusk to dawn lamp (can be, but that's not what I wanted it for). It's mounted on an outbuilding and I use it when I need to get in there at night.

I have two of these mounted on the house:

They were installed in the summer of 2014 and still working great.

I've had cheap (<$50) LED lamps that didn't put out much light. I wouldn't go cheap again...get a good LED lamp.
One thing about LEDs is the color can differ quite a bit from one type to another. The first link I posted is a very bright white light. The 2nd link LEDs are bright, but bluish is color...they don't appear as bright and I think that's more due to the color then actual output.

I have one. It is a security light, not a work light. If I need more light I turn on the 4 1000w arena lights.

Yes, with LEDs, you need to check the color temperature. 3000-4500 Kelvin will be kind of yellowish. 6000 or 6500 Kelvin will be a bright white. As the color temperature goes up past that, the light becomes more "blueish"

I traded out my sodium lamp, removed the extra hardware and installed a regular LED lamp on a simple photocell. I don't have or need very many watts, my LED flood lights turn on when they detect motion. I just want some light so I can see if anything is going on. I really like LED lights.

Same here... it is often very dark at the Washington property at night... no other lights visible...

The previous owner had installed a commercial Sodium Lamp that was overpowering... now use the fixture for a off the self LED bulb and couldn't be happier... also, no need to keep a special bulb around for a spare.

MOtion sensor ligshts and cameras are the way to go!

I intended to buy the SAMS light for my mother and father-in-laws places but was told by someone that although bright they only lit up a small area directly underneath them. Went to Lowes instead and got a more expensive LED light that was supposed to light an entire back yard. It does that and more. My mother especially is very happy with her light. It is located on a slight rise between her house and the stables and it lights up the entire back yard.

Anyway check the reviews and see what people are saying about the lights before you buy.
