Is that a crack in the flat stock, just below the head of the bolt being used as a tip link pin?
It's not a crack it's just the paint line. Blade says it's rated for up to 35 hp

Stopped by TSC today.
Same Tarter Gate built new box blades for sale.
STILL built just like yours!
They either have not learned a thing,..... or just do not care.

Hahahaha man I just read this thread and the one you linked. This is hilarious. Some people can never be pleased and would rather find something or someone to spend some much energy on trashing when it's unwarranted. I get their might have been some issues but wanting them to pony up on the powder coating before you'll allow them to get it is funny. Why powder coat in the first place?

Here's my first hand experience with this company!

I broke my compact grapple by using it on a utility grapple by having a tree in it and backup up over and over trying to pull the roots out on a pine. I cracked the mount and bent a hyd cylinder. This is 100% abuse and not any fault of the grapple or manufacturer. I created a thread to show the carnage as everyone love it and EA reached out to me to check if my address was still the same. They sent me out two new cylinder and all the mounts the next day for free saying it should've broken and they changed the design to prevent it from happening again. That's EA service. Bending over backwards to take care of their not so deserving customers.

Brett
Resolving an issue caused by owner "100% abuse" is great,..... but that is apparently quite different from admitting shoddy workmanship.

I agree. I was involved in that thread. catman8 didn't start the "fight", EA did. And thru it all EA never admitted error in the thread. All Travis had to do was what catman8 described, simply state it was an error and that they would work toward improving design. Didn't happen. There were three things wrong with that BB. There are still three things wrong with it. Hopefully EA will use the experience to minimize these issues. :)

I appreciate all the help and support of the TBN forum members while trying to work through these problems. I consider this matter closed, I know I will never have these issues fixed and look at this as a learning experience. This is what a forum is for, being able to share our buying experiences with other forum members so we can make educated decisions when shopping for implements. I'm sure we have all learned a lot from this and hope this was a lesson that will help improve customer service and fabrication issues. No hard feelings, life goes on. :)

Hmmm, did you miss this post:

I have called catman twice, emailed him and pm'ed him today. He has not returned anything. We will reimburse him for everything, including the paint. We sent out the box blade unpainted, so it skipped a few eyeballs. No excuse. He has asked nothing of us. NOTHING. I do not think he really wants anything, but he is really enjoying this beating of a dead horse.
I recall seeing another post mentioning that they will not send out another blade unpainted and partially assembled (sorry, not digging it up on my phone).
My personal suggestion would be for catman8 to take Travis up on his offer, send the blade back on EA's dime, get his money back and buy another blade from Woods or Bushhog if he likes their blades better now or stop complaining about it and start wearing the powder coat off it.

For the record. I did not have a problem with my blade I only changed it because I wanted it to fit my quick hitch. It says that it's quick hitch ready but it needed some modification. And I felt that with the changes I made I needed to reinforce it. I think for the horse power that it's rated for it's a fine blade.

I see your point.
I had not noticed that their 5' BB is only rated for 35 HP.
Still....it is a poor/weak design.
Even with only 35HP, fetching up on a rock, while pushing backward, could possibly bend the flat stock supports.

I agree with this^^^^
EA has made the offer to reimburse and I would take it. Complaining on all the box blade threads is not going to change anything for catman. Buy a new box blade and after inspection have it powder coated if that suits you.

Do not worry about the paint on an existing box blade or other implement. A quick disassembly and the next step is sand blasting for any good powdercoat process. Whether it is painted or not should not be a big deal for any powder coat outfit.

I think TBN may have cut catman8 off from any further postings.
I suspect that ETA may have complained to the moderator.

My personal preference for coating is not powder coating.
In my opinion 2 part epoxy is superior, in that it is not as brittle as powder coating.
Epoxy is easy to touch up also.

As far as I know, catman8 has not been banned or otherwise blocked from posting.
Anyone can complain to a moderator, that doesn't mean that the moderators will do something.

This whole debacle was started by EA. Whatever they offered to do thru emails, phone calls, PM's etc., is irrelevant. I don't recall one public post by Travis that accepted responsibility for the issues. Blaming it on the lack of "paint guy" QC excluded of course. Could have turned out sooooooo differently if handled differently by EA. It was clearly their choice. As it stands right now I am unaware of any change in manufacturing style that would ensure a future customer not having these same issues other than the aforementioned lack of "paint guy" QC. So I guess the answer is don't order a BB unpainted. :D

Sure glad mine come painted because it was perfect and i'm positive it was the paint. I will buy more attachments from them so long as its painted, man thats good paint lol:laughing:

I think the point is that the guy wanted powder coating because it is far more durable than paint.
Then too, he apparently wanted it powder coated in JD colors.
I can totally understand wanting to do that.

I understand the point and I hope they get things straighten out. I had a great experience with ETA and I hope everyone else does to. The paint on my box blade has held up real well and has been used hard.

I don't understand why people want to have an implement powder coated or painted in the first place. Most of my implements have been purchased used and I have left them in their blemished condition. It's just gonna get boogered up all over again once it's used for a while.

I'm a function-over-form guy, and I view these things as tools to get a job done, not as something to be displayed for their intrinsic beauty.

I guess if I ever buy an implement with the intention of putting it under a glass dome for public viewing, I'll paint or power coat it. But I don't paint my hammers, screwdrivers or shovels either.

Catman8 wanted his box blade powdercoated, I was suggesting a way to resolve his wishes.

Tractor implement paint available at most hardware stores and TSC works good and doesn't peel off. I use it to touch up things that will get lots of wear just to keep the rust away when not in use. I just cant see the point in powder coating something like a box blade as even the powder coat will not stand up to any real use for long and the paint will still look good after you touch it up.
