They should have used a better grade of calking compound on the spillway seams and all would have been well.

I just read that CA is going add a 42 to 151 percent tax to gasoline to help pay for pensions. Where are they going to get the money to pay for infrastructure? When I lived there, they where always talking about a new tax to fix the roads and bridges, but they never seemed to get fixed. From what I understand, tax dollars raised for a specific project an also be used for just about anything else there. Which seems to be the case all too often.

Here in Texas, they have to use the money raised for roads on the roads. In my opinion, they have too much money to spend and they are always repaving the roads. The road to where I live has been repaved three times in the 14 years I've owned my land.

In Texas the State may not borrow to build or repair roads. They must have money in hand to do a job. I like that... Taxing gas for pensions, that's crazy. Why not tax movies, plays, college students, and beach homes.

Yes... the chickens are coming home to roost and government pensions are the elephant in the room...

My friend was the city manager of your childhood city and the biggest concern was promised pensions... I saw the graphs and pensions would consume the entire budget if nothing changed.

I only expect it to get worse as time goes on and can only become an ecomomic incentive for those with options to look elsewhere...

Mom's property tax increased 33% this year... even with Prop 13 which hold increases to 2%... but does not apply to voter approved ballot measures... anyone that owns property is a target...

There is all kinds or pressure to increase water/sewer rates and electric and gas are/have had large increases...

I have managed rentals for years... my city has now imposed a requirement that the Rent Board must approve improvements and owners cannot over improve... yes... it says this!

What does a gallon on unleaded cost there today? I paid $2.07 for gas on Monday, and that wasn't the best price, it was just the closest good price. What will it be with another .43 cents per gallon added to it, and with the increase in fuel prices, what will that do to freight charges getting good delivered to the stores? Sounds like more suffering for the poor.

When are you going to throw in the towel and move out of that state? Haven't you had enough?

I sure have. I didn't want to move here from Silicon Valley in the first place but my native angelino wife couldn't feature living in the relative freedom of the USA so here I am. Now she wishes she'd considered Arizona a bit harder but it's too late. Women!

Funny, TBN''s owner moved FROM Arizona to California. As I recall he posted a photo looking out a window at 110+ degree bare desert and contrasted that with a San Diego beach scene or something.
