I have looked at the new Deere rollout literature for the 5000R tractors. Very impressive! The engineers have packaged the features of the larger Ag-frame tractors into a real, utility sized machine. A "pocket" battleship!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any real specifications about these new machines beyond the "glossy" introductions!

For example, how much do these machines weigh? What are the respective PTO horsepower rating's? Are these tractor's built in the U.S. or Germany? What is the 3pt. lift capacity? What are the loader specs beyond "200 lbs more than the H series"? Can you buy the R tractor with either the H260 or H310 (and save money) or in the case of the H310 - increased load capacity?

With the sibling tractor's E and M's you can fit the machine with a backhoe via the power-beyond circuit. Will that option still be available with the PFC hydraulic system on these new tractor's?

I recognize that it's "early in the game" but... Deere has certainly made the effort to get the "Build Your Own" option available to folk's that might want to order a new R!

However, it might really behoove JD to provide more details for those folk's interested in this sized platform. Most people want that information way ahead of the time when they might actually walk into the dealer's showroom!

I got the impression that these new 5R tractors were considerably larger than the current 5 series? Are they the same frame size as the current 5085 etc?

They're more inline with the 6000 series as far as size goes, as AKfish said, they're a small battleship. If I figure out how to get pics off my phone to this, i'll post a few close ups.

Nope... They're a shorter wheelbase than the current M models: 88.5in vs 92.5in. And, with the new independent front suspension, the R model has a much shorter turning radius.

My 2011 5075M has an 85.6 inch wheel base. Then the M's stretched out to 90.6 for a couple years and the latest models are 92.5inches.

For comparison, the mid-2000 to 2012 6000 Premium tractor series have a 94.5in wheelbase. With 34inch tires, the "feel" of the older 6000P tractors is not much different than the 5000M platform.

The new R series might make those 4000 machine owners wanna "take a spin"! (Although, @ $110K it might be a quick spin!)

The literature for the European tractor seems to indicate that the R will be a heavier tractor than the current M's as well. I'd really like to know if that's the case for the U.S. market.

Lot's of questions, yet.

AKfish I just saw this post now.

I signed the order for a new 5125R this past Wednesday with my Dealer. I enjoyed the 5075M we had but I`ve decided a second loader tractor with more horsepower and weight is a better fit for our hay operation. I sold our 5075M to help finance the new machine. Current lead time on the machine is somewhere between four and six months. I`ll keep you guys updated as I get information. I`m really excited to put this machine in the fleet. I had a chance to run a 5115R at the dealer and fell in love with it. They basically improved all of the small complaints I had with the M series. Here`s my specs:

Congratulations on your new tractor! I wish you all the best. I currently own a 2014 5115 m loaded pretty much like your new machine... give or take a few options.. I will tell you this that this tractor is way overrated IMO. I bought it to mow filth on steep ground and itç—´ not the tractor that Deere says.. I知 located in steep ground country south western pa.... I致e had Deere people look at this machine for the issues I致e in countered.. to no avail. I will tell you this that the brakes on my Tractor along with others I致e read about in the 5 series are totally junk. You had better be strapped in and strong legged to push hard enough to stop on hills. Most of the time it takes twice to stop if youæ±*e hooked to a batwing or baler. I might add forward or backwards... I wouldn稚 recommend this tractor to anyone that looking at Deere. I知 a die hard Derre man owning several tractors including industrial.. but never again on this series. Itç—´ on real thin ice and might be my last Derre. I wish you all the best with yours .. hopefully you won稚 have any issues like I致e had . Just my .02 CTç—´. Have a good 1

That`s odd. I wonder if yours had a specific issue with the brakes that they couldnt find or address? My 5075M never had any issues stopping. Although I will admit that the brakes never felt as strong as the ones on either of my 6420's. The pedal always felt "softer" to me. But they never gave me any issues stopping. I too am in southwestern pa (approx 35-40 minutes south of Pittsburgh) and we used the 5075M with a Kuhn GMD 600GII disc mower to mow our pastures. Some of which are EXTREMELY steep. With 6 suitcase weights and the bracket up front, the tractor handled the hills with ease both climbing and stopping. Never gave me any concern. My only issue with the 5075M was the original standard issue lower hitch links failed within a month of me owning the tractor. It dropped my brand new Kuhn mower off the back on a very steep section I was mowing. The standard locking mechanism Deere designed for the standard telescoping draft links was flimsy and couldn't handle the pressure and lateral draw the mower was placing. Once I put the heavy duty hitch kit on the tractor, it functioned flawlessly. The transmission was a good one, strong and reliable, but not very handy when having to road the tractor. Synchronized gears were fine, but unsynchronized range shifting make it hard to pull out of a field and get the tractor up to road speed with any amount of reasonable speed. This new 5R fixes that with the fully electronic transmission with push-button range and gear shifting. It`s actually a better setup transmission than my current 6420`s have. I`ll be anxious to get the new one in the field and get some seat time in it. Once its in and I have time to play with it I`ll do a good video review and post it on the web. I`ll get some pics of it on here as well.

I will say this .... John Deere according to my dealer changed the brake system or redesigned how they operate..... I cant confirm this or deny that is what they told me after meeting etc. They told me that the brakes felt ok and up to there standards after driving around on my farm... making sure they were not on the real steep ground. I told them to hook to my 10ft pull bush hog and never got any action from this suggestion. The J D rep was a flatlander from the west and he told me that I was mowing ground that wasn't practical and that the machine wasn't designed for that!!!! I looked at him and told him that I didn't buy a yard ornament for flowers and that Ive worked out west pipelining with you flatlanders and that you people were scared of hills period. I also told him that I had more hrs on equipment then a 1000 x times his age both heavy and farm. I told him that everything that's built for farming is built for flatland and guys like me buy the junk and try to work it back here. I added wheel spacers and extra wheel weights plus fluid (all 4 tires the max) to help with weight..... I also leave the fel with bucket on for added weight when bush hogging for pushing or climbing when needed ( which I do quite often) on my property. Just to clarify the salesman videoed me mowing for the J D people to verify that this was not all wind. They all said that the machine wasn't designed for this type of work and that as far as they were concerned the issue was my fault..... funny thing is my hay fields are steep but not as steep as my fields where I mow filth and the brakes are not any better hooked to my baler (jd 458 silage special net wrap).I can control this tractor in these areas .... but you have to pay attention and know the ground and where your at. The tractor also has hydraulic issues (noise and slow on some response time.... and its known to get hot hydraulic oil that is) it has gotten hot and bells and alarms have gone off lots of times and I call the dealer with the codes ..... they have replaced the hydraulic pump new hydraulic oil and filters new control behind and below the cab on right side ( I apologize I don't know or remember the name of this piece) it was replaced a few months after purchase. The dealer and Deere said that this was the problem with the oil getting hot..... also they checked the hydraulic pressures and made sure all hoses were where they belonged ......WELL GUESS WHAT THE PROBLEM WASNT REPAIRED after all that!!!!! The brakes are still junk also.... I just went with it because I had to have a tractor..... and didn't want to buy another machine at the time. The tractor is balanced ok now with the weights Ive added ...... and its set up size wise ok for my ground I run on the transmission is electric split H L with 32F/16 R Premium cab. I'm a J D man but like I stated earlier this tractor has made me think a lot less of J D . They like there GREEN paint and their NAME and they are OVER PRICED OVERRATED and just want to SELL ..... I'm more then likely thru with Deere after this excursion we will see.... I realize that there are lemons and this was discussed .... but I was told there are no lemon laws concerning farm equipment..... ( take that for what its worth) I cant confirm. I feel J D doesn't want to take responsibility for there equipment when needed..... and so it goes........ I wish you all the best with your new tractor and hope it is great! I also live 50 miles south of pittsburgh in hill side country !!lol. What ive written is my personal experience with this series of tractor .... I seriously doubt I will buy another Deere unless the deal is to hard to pass up...... I'm looking now and then when I have the time ....... Just my opinion . Have a good 1
