Good evening all. 46F this morning, partly cloudy, and near calm winds. Temps did not warm much, to 61F and the sky clouded over, and the winds hit 14-25 from the south. left for bike ride @ 7:30, got back at 1PM only 4 hrs 40 min moving time and low average. Will need for group to speed up, or forgo riding with them for a while. Made a fire in the insert after I got home and had lunch, wife has really enjoyed the insert fires.

21 out and going to only 44, but more cheerful sun, which seems to be getting so much brighter.

Finished swapping out the blades on my tiller yesterday. I've used it heavily for 11 or 12 years and with such gradual wear, never noticed how much had worn down until last year.

glad it's not that cold here but cold enough blooms are dying out there....sigh. Several sheets put out, but the fruit orchard will do what it's going to do. Cold day today, then a slow warming. Really a good day for me to go back into the woods and chip wood, will be too cold to work in the barn. I have all those parts soaking away in degreaser, might go get slimed up with that later, but first, sensibly, going to buy some heavy duty rubber gloves, and a nice little parts cleaning brush. Could not avoid getting some cleaner solution on my hands and boy did it dry them out. It may be non flammable but it's plenty strong. I rarely wear gloves but here's where I have to. I am curious to see if the cleaning solution softens the paint. It's all getting repainted but no sense making more work.
For sure I only put the indestructible parts in there first, like mower spindle pulleys, bolts and hardware to be kept.

amazing pic of that tiller, must be rocky soil, talk about a nub!

-24F, we are looking for a high of 20 above. IF it does happen then I will go out and move snow banks. IF we don't get the warmer temps then I will just hunker down in here and feed the fire. I am easy. The snow banks will be there when I get around tuit.

Good morning all. Caught a brief glimmer of yellow first thing this morning before the rain came and had me running inside. A warming cup of tea and some better waterproof clothing, then it was out again, just in time to see the transparent rain slowly morph into huge flakes of soggy white snow. Can't really complain about feeling code though when others are at -24. Keep feeding the fire lookingfornew, your springtime can't be far off now.

Magnets are proving to be something of a revelation. The steel I used for the back of the fire surround is only thin, so although it is secured in slots at the sides, it was always going to need more support towards the middle to hold it onto the frame. Instead of having to use visible screws, these tiny magnets, smaller than an M6 nut, are enough to hold it in place without any fixings showing. Now to find a piece of steel for the top.

RNG, sorry to hear your van build is dragging on. I know that annoying feeling when you do your best to be patient to help someone, yet they still don't respond and stop treating you like a customer because they are lost in their own personal problems and can't run their business properly. At least it gives you time to plan out all the other finishing touches while you find someone else.

wngsprd, yep, think you certainly had your moneys worth out of that blade !

Planted daffodils with wife. RV got picked up by transporter, then worked on my trailer gate/ramp assist lift made from a garage door spring. Alas, it's not as good as I wanted so back to the drawing board. I'll need to rethink the mounting points to gain more mechanical advantage.
Then down in the woods for some raking and pulling a few small trees with the grapple till supper. All in all a productive day.
Oh yeah. My friends brought me an 8 foot metal brake that had been given to him. So now I have a new toy to play with. I've never had one so off to google it.
Head back to Abilene TX for work this afternoon. Couple more weeks left on the project there.

Ditto on the Buppies temps. Nice and sunny. Returning to clearing one final time. I found some serious poison ivy yesterday. I think it managed to grow all the way up the dark side of the silo. I peeked at the tree in the silo yesterday, yeah need some more opinions on that. LOL.

Have a great day all be safe.

Hi all, I haven't been here for ages. How are things going with everyone?

Rainy down here this weekend. Sitting in front of the puter with coffee in my hand. It seems 2017 has it out for me in the early going. So far my truck is wrecked and this weekend I'm replacing the radiator, condensers, hood, front lights and repairing the fenders. My FEL hydraulics bit the dust and I just spend $650 to buy all new lines, hoses, and cylinders since they all have rusted beyond repair from hurrican salt water. Then my washer went out last night while I was washing all my greasy clothes!

Good thing my lady still wants me. :)

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 61° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 76° with partly cloudy skies. Another patio day on the agenda for today. Then some NASCAR on patio TV.
Good Morning All.

Good thing for sure! Nice to hear from you Cajun. Sounds like you are suffering the effects of being underwater, though trucks usually don't wreck themselves...;)
You'll get it under control, just think, job security!

kiss your bride to makes sure. :D

37 this morning and headed to 67 today. Rain back in forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday morning.

Noticed last night that the frogs are out. Could here the Cadiz from the swamp on the neighbors. That should also mean the snakes are out also. Have to be more careful walking around the woods.

Wife has given me a task. Locate a place to build a house. Currently we're in a double wide. And after last weeks storms. She wants to move farther away from the chicken coops. We're less than 300 feet now. But they sit right in the middle of the property. I can gain distance from them but it's on the fan end and we'll have all the fan noise. She also wants a basement and I want at least a partial walkout basement. For moving things in and out. Think big doors and no stairs. So finding a site is a challenge most of our weather comes from the SW-NW. So I want to avoid an open face in that direction. Tornadic threats seam to come from SW though. Looking at NRCS maps I don't have many suitable options and none I like. Told her we may have to buy land to build. She said start bidding. I guess that's a sign. Now how much land is required for a housing site. I'm thinking at least 3 digits. :). Maybe I shouldn't press my luck. Need to go talk to neighbors. Farms on both sides are leased out with non farming owners. Just have to find out how many heirs there are involved with each.

32 here, going to 41? Sounds good to me.

Farmer, sounds like you guys are on a good path. Buying property is seldom a losing proposition.

Looks like a nice day today, I need it!

Be safe!

Does the sun interfere with the viewing of your TV?

Is land in your neck of the woods as expensive as it is in ours?
