BH65 for my B2620 quote & counter offer...

Good morning...

Yesterday I received from my Kubota dealer a quote of $7300 for a brand new BH65 backhoe, 12" bucket, all inclusive and dealer installed. My counter to that was $7000 and they perform a full HST/hydraulic fluid change including whatever filters are necessary and an oil change and filter.

Wanted to get some thoughts and opinions from the team here on TBN site!!!

If you were doing a package deal with the purchase of a new tractor, maybe they'd bargain with you like that. Otherwise, I doubt it. They'll have to order the BH in, invest probably a day or more of technician time to install, and eat the cost of a full service on the tractor. All right when they're stepping into the busy season with their ag customers. IMHO, they would have to like you as a customer a whole lot to go for that arrangement.

Its a negotiation, the worst he can say is no. I was quoted 8800.00 for a 70 series on a B2601 i'm getting. I came back asking for a mech thumb,one set of filters and fuilds and 3rd function valve included. Still talking, you never know.

How much if you install?

The only data point I have is a quote from Barlows, which is 1200 miles from Colorado Springs, for $6295 for the complete BH65 setup, all inclusive. That's the price...then I have to pick it up and install it. Not worried about the installation part but I either pay for shipping or go get it with my F-350 4x4.

As Lilguy stated, it's a negotiation and I'll wait and see if they accept or what they come back with to counter my counter. I don't believe my offer was insulting and my dealer knows me and will respond accordingly. If they can do it fine, if not I'll probably still proceed with the purchase. Everything has a margin associated with it and asking for a 4.1% discount plus a service I don't think is unrealistic. They can always say no...

Will the updated BH70 work on a B2620?
I can see them maybe going for the installed backhoe w/12" bucket and hydraulic fluid change for $7000 but not the rest.

No, Lilguy, I was asking for $300 off the quoted price and that they perform a HST/tranny fluid and filter change while the tractor is getting the backhoe attached. Now, I certainly would not balk at a situation in which they threw in the SUDT fluid and filters for me to do the maintenance!!

About 15 months ago I bought my B2620HST, 54" box scraper, RTR1250 tiller and weight box from my dealer. I thought their price was fair and didn't even negotiate; I just agreed and we made the deal. So going to the table on a $7000+ purchase and asking for $300 off the price and a courtesy fluid change, to me, isn't unrealistic. I'll let ya'll know what happens...
