How much stuff do you plan on taking south every winter or even north? In order to get a usable enclosed trailer for the tractor, that might be to big to pull a couple pieces of furniture for long trip.

I wanted an enclosed trailer for a major move down south and for subsequent trips, but I considered the headache I would have with a big enclosed trailer for most needs. The enclosed trailers I looked at were plywood floor and they seemed weak. I would have had to at least rent a trailer for my tractor and all the heavy stuff I have. I ended up with a big flatbed for everything and worked out for me.

I would consider a larger flatbed for the tractor and a small enclosed for the many trips you may take. I would think, but don't know for sure, the price for a big enclosed trailer for all your needs would be close to a big flatbed and a small enclosed trailer.

Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions. I think that a 16 footer will be best. Yes, it will be for storage when not in use, which will free up some space in the garage! I forgot about the doors on this unit. Can it take the weight of a tractor? for a 7K weighted one they say I can haul about 4900 pounds in it. If I get the barn door model where do you get ramps at to drive the tractor over?

Thanks again for all the great advice! it really helps me out

If you get a enclosed car hauler, the fold down door will be beefier and able to support a car. No probs for a tractor.

Just remember on the trailer, like tractors it's cheaper to go bigger up front than to sell and buy bigger.

One thing I have always been interested in is the V nose trailers, I wonder if they pull easier.

I think the V nose looks like crap but people buy them so there must be a good reason.

If I gained 2mpg hauling a V nose vs flat face box trailer I would prob buy a V nose 2ft longer than I wanted. I would buy one if I gained mpg from it.

V nose does nothing for mpg or how it pulls, it simply adds SQ FT/CU FT to the interior while utilizing the same size trailer chassis.

There is nothing you can do to a trailer to gain 2 mpg. That's a dream.....

75% of a trailers drag comes off the rear. I have a degree in aerospace and have spent time in the wind tunnel. A tapered tail is the only way to smooth out the airflow. Just look at any airplane. They all have a relatively blunt nose but are highly tapered at the tail.

Also why the big 53' trailers now have the side skirts and conical drag reducers out back.
