Keep us posted on what you find out is/was the problem.
In my foggy memory, also seems the 60 series got away from the cable operated shifter to linkage operated?? Also integrated the park feature into the gear selection lever rather than having a separate "park" lever like my 9540 has??
Thanks. Anxious to hear a solution. What would be worrying me is doing damage to the system by having to force it. Properly adjusted it should function easily.
As I move my shifter I am pushing/pulling one of the cables. Which one is dependent on what position the lever is in. For example, lever leaned to the left I'm operating 1-2 shift. Center, 3-4. Right, 5-6. Down side to cable operated is they feel spongy, not as distinctive. Upside is you don't have logistical problems in regards to shifter tower location.
Linkage system uses metal rods or flat iron linkages to connect the shift tower to the trans. Down side is the location problems I mentioned above. Up side is better "feel" in the shifter.
I prefer linkage over cable.
In regards to your park system I can only guess that it is also linkage controlled. Your shifter has four lateral positions with the farthest right being park?
Hopefully your problem is a simple adjustment!!!![]()
You are correct - 4 lateral positions with the right most being park. Thanks for the crystal clear explanation! Now I won't sound as much like an idiot when I talk to the service personnel. I'll post the diagnosis from the dealer as soon as I have one, hopefully today or tomorrow.
And for our clarity, all other gears shift normally??
