Common to have to re-touch paint on new attachments? Part II

I would say that your issue with paint coming off attachments or implements is probably quite common. I have 3 implements for my tractor and everyone of them have paint coming off in certain areas.I store them covered with tarps in the winter but it doesn't seem to matter. Not sure if attachments or implements are primed first before a finish paint goes on but it may help if they were.Looks like touch up paint is our only option.

No metal prep, and/or no priming is the root of the problem.
NONE of my 4 King Kutter implements were primed!

Here's my experience. I got a new frontier box blade bb4296H. I believe it's the biggest and baddest they make. To the tune of $4435 msrp. It had several scratches that were long and all the way thru the paint. It looked terrible. I asked the dealer for some paint I could buy. He offered to touch it up. I told him I'd rather do it but he insisted. This was the service adviser. When I go to strap it down I find paint on the cylinder, both hoses and over ever single frontier sticker on the impliment. Over spray was even on the trailer deck. I knew these get used but I wanted it nice fro just one day and they royally fired me up. I was fine doing it, I understand things get bumped during transport and the LTL guys done care because it's a huge chunk of metal. I was more upset with the fact they guy touching it up gave no regard for my new equipment....the most expensive one they have sold no less! Stuff happens in transport, it's part of it. The fact EA stepped up and offered to compensate you for the paint speaks volumes. I wouldn't want powdercoat on my implements. Much easier to touch up paint with a rattle can from the store

Wow, that would have burned me up! I have had similar experiences over the years, where someone's amateurish attempt to repair a minor problem makes it much worse. Some real dopes out there.

My King Kutter box blade did not hold the paint well in several places. I must say that my aerator from EA came with really nice paint. Better than I even expected.
My grapple from another company was all chipped up from shipping and my 36" bucket for my mini had a few spots of light surface rust. I dug a hole with it and can't tell where the marks were anymore.....

To add to the story, when I grabbed the hyd hose to hook it up, it fell off. Wasn't even finger tight. Since they obviously didn't test it out, they never found out the the scarfier lock doesn't engage and as soon as it hits the dirt they kick back and doesn't dig in. I've been in contact with the manufacturer to see if there's any way to adjust it or if it's going to need to be cut off and rewelded. If that's the case they can send me more parts or I'll let the dealer deal with it. That's was more frustrating than the scratches in the paint!

No one asked me but I'll give my opinion anyway.

Get over it and worry about something that really matters. Life's too short to fret over such trivial things. Hook it up put it to work and enjoy the outdoors.

X2.

Its Saturday, put that implement to work.
