I got my WR Long 3rd function kit mostly installed today. Only piece left is to permanently connect the hot wire for power. Problem is I don't know where to start looking for a hot wire short of the battery.

Anyone have any suggestions? I have a Mahindra 3550.

I added a few extra items to my tractor that needed a power source. I found an extra unused keyed power source terminal on the back of my ignition switch. Maybe your 3550 switch has one.

Thanks. I'll take a look.

If you do find an unused terminal just make sure you ad an inline fuse to the circuit you ad.

Things to think about:.

1: be sure to fuse the wire you run. check the manufactures spec sheet, I think most of them run about 2 or 3 amps so something like a 5 amp fuse should be about right.

Keep in mind you will want to operate the solenoid after the engine is shut down so you can relieve pressure in the circuit before you disconnect the hydraulic quick connects. Be sure your wire run is fully protected and will not chafe on the frame of the tractor. I recommend some of the black wire loom to run the wiring in to help protect it. you can buy it at automotive stores or even Wally World.

There are often unused connections on the fuse block but you will need a voltmeter or at least a test lamp and understand how to use it. These are the same skills you would have used to hook up a CB radio or stereo back in the day...

It came with a 10AMP fuse.

Thanks for the tip on keeping power to the solenoid.

Haven't done any CB or radio work in over 20 years. Maybe I can fish out those memories.

I would put it on a "keyed" circuit, but just remember when you shut the engine off with the key in off you will need to put the key back to "on" to cycle the solenoids to relieve the pressure in the hydraulic lines. So then when you turn the key off again, all power is dead to the unit.

10 amps is a bit big for an ignition switch. If you need to have it controlled by the key, use the keyed circuit to control a relay, and run power from the battery to the relay, then to your solenoid.

See the diagram here. In your case, where it says, "remote turn on wire", you'll connect the ignition switched power, and where it says, "fan 1" and "fan 2", you'll connect your solenoid.
