New from Hollister Ca!

Hello. newbie here! I'm looking to buy a tractor, never owned one, or have too much seat time behind one, mainly bobcat skid steers at work, but need a conventional FEL tractor. So a google search on "which kind to buy" brought me to TBN!

My girlfriend and I live on her parents 400 acre piece of property in Tres Pinos, Ca. There hasn't been a serviceable, working FEL tractor here in over 15 years, so I have a lot of work to do. (post hole digging, mowing, moving heavy downed oak trees, lots of brush, and of course moving dirt and large amounts of gravel to constantly maintain our 1/2 mile long dirt road driveway.

I was looking only at Kubota because of how close the dealer is, about 20 miles. But I am open to others!

I have my eye on the L4701. More details to come on the tractor and how I thought about getting it equipped, I will upload the build sheet a gentleman made up for me.

Fortunately the new buyer has an embarrassment of rich when it comes to good quality machines of the size you are considering. I would have see your property and needs to conform, but my inclination is more toward an MX5800 CUT or an M7060 or equivalent in one of the other brands. We have about the same acreage tractors from 22 to 85HP and I usually choose the L5740HSTC or M8540HDC.

here is the sheet I had the gentleman make out for me, basically 3rd function valve, 4-in-1 bucket, 3 rear hyd remotes for full hydraulic box scraper. and other things you can see on the tag.

Here is a picture from the far back side of our property, probably about 50 acres of vineyards, California oak filled rolling hilled cattle land. but looking at the picture, most of the work to be done is in the far back left corner where you can maybe see the old barn. ill get a picture of that area.

this creek runs through our land as well, and eats away our main "driveway" if you will.

road I have to fix, might be better off with a dozer. LOL

Anyways, Also looking at the MX5200 with HST, which is a little heavier tractor, bigger FEL capability for not too much more money...Again I'd have all the hydraulics I could have, affixed to it.

Yep, beautiful property indeed. I mentioned what I would want given your parameters. My choice would be the M8560 with hydraulic with 12/12. HOWEVER, the MX5200 is a good choice. I would forget the 4-1 bucket, too much weight and just go with a standard HD bucket and grapple or grapple bucket and pallet forks.

My last tractors, I bought "for life" and got cabs, sure glad I did; age and attendant health issues made my open station impractical for me.

The good news is either way, you'll have a great tractor and beautiful land on which to operate.:thumbsup:

Yes, the mx5200 i think will be best for me. Cant really do a cab right now. But i will most likey do as others say and drop the 4in1 bucket, go with a HD round back and a grappler.
