Peace at home... via clean boots. What do you use?

I always look at the sole of the boot before buying it. Some have square edges to the grooves, some are tapered a bit and some tapered quite a bit. There is noticeable difference to how much mud etc they will release with the tapered grooves. I've even cut some to taper them more. Works like a charm and also helps keep gravel, screws etc from getting wedged in them.

If my boots are 'mostly' clean, they stay on, it is a farmhouse after all.

Before the honeymoon ended, I didn't need to go into the house. I would honk the horn and Mrs.tiller would come running out with a cold beer.

So now that the honeymoon is over, Bigtiller, how do you get that beer? Maybe you just have to walk in mud and all....with ear muffs on.:D

I would say get the disposable shoe covers, they make them big enough to go over boots, we have them here at work to keep salt out of the data center in the winter.

I just take my boots off if I go in or walk in and clean it up later, I also wipe the dogs paws off when he comes in for the same reason.

Max walks in, stops and lifts his paw and waits for me to wipe them off, he knows the routine lol.

If you have mud in the boots your not gonna find a way to clean them out fully unless it's dry dirt, by then you might have a chance by kicking a wall or curb and running them threw a shoe brush.

I don't think there's a product out there that will clean a dirty boot off to the point of not dirtying up a house, if you do, by the time you clean the boot go in, grab what your after and are back out it would prob take you twice as long than just unlacing your boots and lacing them back up, shoe covers would be the fastest I feel.

It's my house too. I'm the one who has to replace the flooring if it becomes an eyesore because of dirty shoes or clothing. So my dirty shoes come off in the garage and so do my pants and shirt if I'm that dirty.

There were a few years when I came home from work so muddy that Mrs.tiller would spray me down with the garden hose before she would let me in on her side of the garage.

I'm working on that issue right now. Telling me to take off the shoes alone doesn't work. I've tried that and still the complaints that grass clips, dirt on my clothes, etc. keep coming.

I'm building my mud room to wash up and shower, with a place to change out with a fridge to grab a drink and a stove to cook a quick snack/lunch. When I walk back into the house I'll be in civil mode! :)

Ha,ha,ha - I have this picture in my mind. Pig Pen and his friends - gathered around the refrigerator, out in the garage having a cold one. It is truly fortunate that many of us live out in the country. Many has been the time, I will strip down to my underwear & T-shirt - leaving my shirt, pants, shoes, socks, jacket, gloves & hat out on the porch. Since the forrest fairies will come no where near that pile - I get to come back and clean it all up later.

You do realize those lugs provide traction, and for some it could a safety concern?

My brother in law and I used to strip down on the porch and hose each other off in the front yard. No neighbors.

These days I don't get that crudded up. But I have a pile of shoes in the entry. House shoes in the house and work shoes for work.

Yup. All the dirty stuff will be off before I get back into the house. Soon I'll be showered and clean before I get into the house.
You got fairies in your forest? I'm envious. All we got down here are Rougarous.
