My LC380 had a very strong trigger pull. I think it varies by maker. Without a safety there will be more pull most likely.

IMO he should stay away from semi autos, because of having to rack them. Though you can get devices that make them easier to grab.

But a full size 1911 in 9mm is pretty easy to rack because the mainspring is weaker than the same pistol in .45acp. They rack easy, they have much less recoil, and triggers, since they are a single action, are easy to actuate. Of course a "slicked up" revolver can be very easy to operate too.. So pick what ever one ya like the best. :)

I am not saying a SA is out the question, they do vary. It is just that revolvers don't have to be racked no matter how weak the spring.

Though maybe a single action SA, may work for him, I think he needs to try out a bunch, and see where his difficulties lie.

Racked the 9mm 1911 with no trouble; the .45ACP was a little harder. A gal at the sheriff's range showed me how to rack the slide on a .45 and she was right, her method is clearly easier. Before that, I did have trouble with any version.

Yep, hold the slide static with your left arm tucked into your body, and push the frame forward with your right hand. (all this assumes you are right handed)

Nice tip... I'll have to try that. I assume this is intended as a maneuver if you have an injured hand?

Its prime function is to allow people with weak grip strength to operate stiff slide springs.

Start by placing your left arm mostly horizontal pulled into your gut left to right. Grasp the slide with your left hand, fingers and palm not just fingers and thumb. In fact the thumb is not used at all. Now make sure your right hand index finger is out of the trigger guard, and using your right hand in a natural grip on the grip of the pistol shove the frame forward in a single rapid movement. Then let go of the slide with your left hand and allow the slide to move forward under its own power. Never follow a slide with your hand, always just let go and allow it to move forward.

This will give you much great leverage than attempting to withdraw the slide with your weak hand while holding the frame static with your strong hand.

Of course in all case's be mindful of where the muzzle is pointing as you are charging the pistol with a live round.

Glad you agree

You weren't sure, I was confirming, not agreeing.

I shoot commercially made 357mag 158 grn LFN cowboy action ammo in a Uberti 1873 Cattleman II. It's easy to duplicate with trailboss. You can even make it milder with a 125grn LRNFP.

I'd probably go with bullseye, maybe unique. But it really doesn't matter. Light load is a light load.
