Anyone know the correct color grey for Kubota front end weights?

Didn't paint the weights yet but I do have the correct grill guard bracket on and the front weight bracket painted and bolted on. Kubota has a genius about them with the way the bracket nestles in between the grill guard bracket. It looks great, wastes no space and you can have both the grill guard and the weight bracket on at the same time and still put the loader on.

When the loader is off and tillage is on, it takes mere moments, and a strong back, to put on 800 lbs of weights. Check the last pic; life is good. :)

For me, cast weights are perfect. In mere moments, I can turn my M7040 into either a 5800 lb lightweight to float across a grassy yard or into a 7500 lb brute capable of pulling an 8 ft chisel plow in nasty field conditions. Float like a butterfly; sting like a bee kind of thing. :D

I spent much yesterday wire wheeling 12 suitcase weights. What a PITA. Came inside for lunch and my wife pointed out that I had grown several metal whiskers. Funny that I never felt them stick in. :confused3:

Yeah, that is a drawback, especially with the Chinese wheels. I always wear safety glasses and once had one stick in the framework of my glasses.

This is my new suitcase weight 3pt ballast: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...franken-ballast-expensive-poorly-planned.html

Wire wheel is the way to go.

I wasn't aware of a deep cup wire wheel brush like you have. Looks like a good idea and I wouldn't have to take my guard off to use it. As well, I got a loose wire strand impaled into my hand. You are right on wearing safety glasses with these things and they really are dangerous. Imagine the cheap import ones.

That one is unbraided and about half worn down. I actually wore it out before I finished. I also have a couple of braided versions which last longer.

I burnt up a $9 HF grinder trying to use these once. Just takes too many amps.
