You've got a nasty long drive to any MF dealer from Volga. Just about as bad, equally, to Nettles, Bruceton Mills and Parkersburg. I know a guy near Lost Creek who bought a 4608 (from Lemon's) & his only complaint that did not get fixed quickly was lack of power steering umph when carrying heavy bales on the front and trying to turn in mud. He's had it since early 2014. I can give you his name & phone # if you want. Email me at billrymer@ieee.org as needed. My farm is near Lost Creek and I bought a MF2660 in 2011. LONG story, bugs are finally out of it and I love it now. As you know L&T went out of business in Sept. 2015. Some of L&T's mechanics are now with Hoover's on Corridor H just West of Buckhannon. They are pretty cooperative for me and would no doubt comment on that noise for you if you stop in and talk to the mechanics even though they no longer sell MF. I sure feel the pickle you are in -- if it's nothing to worry about then no big deal but on the other hand what if it is a defect ?

Yeah. Lemons is where it originated from. It's about 200 mile round trip. But a lot of farmers around here have Masseys in my area Mines a 15 model and can't say anything bad about it other than the noise. I've actually stopped in at hoovers before just to check out there Vermeer inventory.

my 4610 made it and a couple of my neighbors make it too my new 4710 does not its smooth and quiet.i put down dyna mat and extra insulation in the floor to try to help and it did some but I finally broke down and traded.mine would make the noise even worse when pto was on like when cutting hay with disc mower it was awful.

Did the dealers give you and your neighbors a solution to the problem other than the mat and insulation??

the sound comes from the clutch pack I think I put 1050 hrs on mine and it was noisy the whole time never got any worse and never got better I think its just a design flaw that iseki should have addressed. in my opinion these tractors were rushed to production to fill a void for agco until they could get the 4700 series ready.i think the 4600 series will be phased out now.my 4610 was a good tractor it was just noisy was my only complaint never had a minutes trouble with it,but the 4700's are way more tractor for about the same money smooth quiet and heavy built.

Just an aside: Owning a MF 2660 I have been frustrated off and on that it is so rare to find out or hear ANYTHING via forums on these "larger" machines. There are 250 or 300 posts on the "4wd lawn tractors" for every one on the 60hp and above machines. I posed a "Why is this?" a couple of times and one guy pointed out the inherent title of TBN in the introductory level of the whole mechanism says "compact tractor forums." Another response was that the bigger machine owners often have their own mechanics, are more often trying to make a living or commercial operators one of the two, and are far less hobbyists than many of us. Thus they do not get on and ramble about their experiences or feel motivated to help other users.

My point in saying the above is that it is very hard to find a good, comprehensive or broad, representative "users group" or forum on the web regarding tractors like your 4608, the 4700 series, my 2660, etc. There seems to be no good tap into experience and comments on the 60 to 100hp or so range of machines. I am not as sure of this with other brands (like Deere or New Holland) but it certainly is a vacuum among the forums for MF.

no not really I think the consensus is they all do it.i know of 5 4600s in my neck of the woods and all the owners complain of them being noisy I think its just poor engineering on isekis part.

Linemanluke said "a chatter like something's loose." Is that descriptive of the 5 in your neck of the woods timberjack ? This is so uncertain when the words are feeble describing it. If I were Linemanluke I would want to go find a couple of other 4600's and listen and see if it the same noise. His ear and memory are the best test as to whether it is "the same thing" or not.

By the way, are most/all of these cab models? The one I know of down near Lost Creek is a platform model. He also got it from Lemon's.

I would say it's probably all the same noise everyone is hearing. And mine is also a platform model. I just wanted to make sure mine wasn't the only one that made a noise so I knew what my best plan of action was. I appreciate everyone taking time to comment all there thoughts and advice

all the ones in my area are cab models and yes I would always call it a clutch chatter when I would describe it to someone.

Just wanted to add that I used my tractor for 10 hrs over the weekend doing some tough brush hogging with a 7 foot brush hog and it all went very well. I don't really recall hearing the noise Maybe just on and off but didn't effect it's performance. Pretty happy with tractor

After running tractor all summer and this fall. I agree with timberjack rob that it's in the clutch pack..springs rattling? Possibly. Can't say for sure It seems to do it the worst in 7th gear..Put 270 hrs on it since march of this year...it's never got worse. Overall I'm happy with the machine...plenty of power and a tough 3pt hitch..not a bit of trouble with it just that rattle/chatter.. it's a ROPs model so I don't think the Dyna mat would do any good Just wish they had a fix for it since it's such a good machine
