Yanmar Super Expensive?

"So, how does Yanmar reach TIER4 on there tractors above 27hp?"
The YT-235 does have a regen filter system, if that is what you are asking. Mine "kicked in" at 34 hours and runs about 30 minutes. Tractor is still operable while it does the regen. Geo

Hey buddy, you never posted pics of your new YT235! Let's see that thing!

Used my new Yanmar YT-235 to dismantle a 24 foot pool. Here it is picking up 8" x 14" x 8ft HEAVY concrete sections with a new 50" Wicked grapple from EA. More pics to follow. Man, that YT235 looks awesome! Looks good playin in the mud. That grapple looks wicked too.

What made you decide to buy the YT235 over other tractors?

Many years ago, after going thru 2 garden tractors, I didn't want to drop another 6 or 7 k$ on something that wore out in three or 4 years. A friend suggested I go with him to look at a Yanmar tractor ( huh ? What is a Yanmar ? ). Well, I bought a Yanmar YM187d and it still runs and works like a bear after 26 or 27 years...Only problem in all those years was a broken seat bracket so I walked down to a local boat dealer and bought a blue "Big Mans" boat seat that went right on. It's still there after 20 odd years. All my implements and tractor have never been outside overnight. Two years ago, I was "commissioned" by a board of directors at a state park to look into getting them a tractor for maintaining lawns and trails, among other things, on 834 acres. I spent a few months looking at Red, Green ,Blue, and various shades in between in tractors within 60 miles of my place. Compared specs and reputation and bought them a Yanmar ex2900...they still love it. Now, it's time for me to get a newer and slightly bigger "toy" as the years are taking their toll on my anatomy. Went around my locality and once again talked to Red, Green, Orange and Blue..as well as four Yanmar dealers. One Yanmar dealer acted like he really wanted to sell me a tractor ( by then I had decided on the YT235 ). Other colors didn't seem interested in making a sale sooooo, by reliability and reputation and personal experience I now have a new YT235 ( and still have my little mule YM187D ) For implements, I have the Wicked 50 grapple, 60 inch bucket with 2 grab hookes welded on ( no charge ), FEL that is smooth as silk and plenty strong for me, a "carry all for the 3pt, 60 Yanmar MMM ( fabricated and a drive over ), WR long 3rd function valve ( no labor charged ), a 72 inch WR long front blade with hyd angle ( that arrived 10 days AFTER our 30 in snowfall ), Woods 60 inch 3pt finish mower, 3pt dump bucket, and 60 inch 3pt back blade. And, a Titan ballast box for good measure.Except for the ballast box the 3PT implements go with the YM187D to my daughter for many more years of trouble free service. So, that is why I decided on the YT235. Whew, Geo.

That's a great story. Thanks for sharing that. Here's my Yanmar story that I posted in another thread:

"let me tell you a story about my past experiences with Yanmar. About 25 years ago when I was in college in the early 90's I worked in a boat yard during the summers. I remember there were many nice 40-50ft sailing yachts that would come to the boat yard to replace their old loud smokey and underpowered diesels from the 60's and 70's with new modern diesel engines. Almost all of them chose to have new Yanmar diesels put into their boats. I recall that the mechanics thought that the Yanmar made the best small marine diesel engines and from what I could tell they really seemed to be very high quality engines.

Fast forward twenty-five years and I'm 45, just bought a small farm (8 acres), and am in the market for a new tractor. Last week I was kicking tires at the Kubota dealership and talking to the owner and I asked for his opinion of them. He said "they build one heck of a diesel engine and the people that buy them seem to be very happy".

I'm thinking that the YT235 is probably perfect for my 8 acre place and it would go well with my nearly new 5ft Bush Hog Squealer and 6ft rear blade. However, I do find myself lusting after the YT347/359 even though they'd probably be overkill for my needs.

One experience really stuck with me. Last year we got 30 inches of snow here in Virginia. My 8N was completely useless with snow up to the axles, no 4wd, and no diff lock. I would like a tractor that could dig me out of that and so I could plow/blow my 1/3 mile driveway.

Do you think the YT235 could handle a 30 inch snow?

When we got our 30 inch storm this "spring" my new WR Long 72 in front blade was still in the factory. I used my old back blade and front bucket on the YT235 to get plowed out...worked just fine, but wish I had that front blade to try out.

I am in the same boat right now. :drink:

Trying to decide on a new tractor, a Yanmar YT359 or a Kubota L5060 GST. I have yet to drive and operate a Yanmar. Until I do, no new tractor.

Yea, I'm right there with you fellas. One thing I like about Yanmar is they make horsepower the old fashioned way, by using a bigger engine rather than a turbo.
