We got real lucky the spring we planted our was very cool and wet. We lost a total of 6 trees out of over 2000 and NONE to deer!!!

Any advice on keeping the deer away? We have quite a few around.

I have no good advice for that, other than there was most likely something more tasty for them to eat than our trees. Lots of corn and soybeans around, as well as grasses along the highway.

I had much more damage from bucks scraping the trees with their antlers over the years than I did from deer nibbling on them. Don't know why.

Someone's gonna say SHOOT EM! but you can only shoot so many.

Nice moisture, I think the trees are getting a good start.

Where do you get trees in bulk like that? The best prices I've seen thus far are from the Arbor Day foundation.

Montana State Nursery. You have to order them in the fall.

I need to replace a single pear tree here in VT to provide pollination to the "healthy tree" next to it.

Is it too late to order a tree from the "usual suspects"? I've been using Fedco.

To late for this year and I don't think they have those in Montana.

Fun time planting trees in Montana today. Planted Caragana, Hawthorn, Chokecherry, Golden Currant and Serviceberry today. Fun times.

CL ad reads 2 seater convertible rides $5.00.

On a serious note.
Looks like lots hard work and well worth the effort!

Ordered out a Moon Glow from Starke.

I guess they feel it's not too late.
The old tree gets pulled after the flowering and pollination is done.
