Buying Advice New 40 hp tractor... the search begins.

I currently have a 1999 JD 4500 (39HP) that has served me well, but its time to upgrade.

I plan to look at a JD 4044R, and Kioti NX4510 this week and will give my opinions on each. Any others I should definately add to my list? Would love to look at them all, but who has time for that!

I would look at the NX5510 as well...same chassis, but bigger wheels/tires that are worth it in my opinion. The rear 3pt control is super handy when changing implements.

If I were looking, I would focus on Deere or Kubota but thats just my personal bias. There are lots of good tractors out there. Have you considered used? BTW, I graduated from school at SIU in 1984 and have a daughter that is a freshman this year at SIU. I always loved the area and have a chance to visit the area a lot more now that my daughter is there.

I'm planning to put a deposit on the used 4054r 2mrw... Guy bought 2 tractors 4 months ago and decided he only needs one.

Hi Dave, we have vacation rentals in Carbondale if u need a place to stay

Do you mean 4052R? They do not make a 4054R.

How would I find them? We have often taken to renting houses instead of a staying in a hotel when we visit.

Their MRCD Engines don't use DEF fluid.

I don't know of any 40 hp tractors using DEF fluid. The Mahindra engine uses a DOC instead of a DPF. There are positives and negatives on both systems.
