Mother of God Pole Barns are Expensive!

I had this 40' X 60' X 12' Red Iron Building put up 2 years ago for a total of $38,000.
Those prices for a pole barn seem way high to me. ???

New England is a high-cost part of the country. Have you priced housing lately?

How stony is your soil? The thing about a pole barn is you have to be able to place the poles exactly where they need to go. Around here you could dig down two feet and hit a rock the size of a house, the only way to place a post would be with dynamite. Pole barns aren't very popular.

Take a look at Carolina Carports and see if they have a dealer in your area. You can configure your building online and the dealer will honor it.

IF I'm setting a post on a rock as big as a house, that's a GOOD thing!

The rock goes below the frost line, so I don't need to set the post as deep.

I was just quoted $4 a foot for concrete for a garage floor and driveway pad yesterday.

I can't bring myself to pay that much money for something I can do myself. We are all just people, (you can do anything that someone else can do) get some friends who have the skill needed and put it up yourself. I built a 57' X 72' pole barn for about 30 grand. It covers all my equipment.

Yes, it took about 6 weeks. That was mostly just my wife and I. Did get intermittent help from my two sons. Here's the inside.
