Last Man Standing

Last man standing!
Good memories.
Got a phone call 5 years ago that said I was one of last 10 drawn for an all expense vacation to Jamaica.
It was our anniversary dinner and there was a coupon for a draw.
I recall wife saying 'hang up, it is a scam' but I knew the voiceat the other end, he was our mayor that owned the restaurant.
Well I was the LAST MAN STANDING in that process of elimination.
Nice reward for taking the better half out to dinner!
Naturally all the local weekly papers picked up the event and I became a celebrity.

OK, getting along but have a lot of good memories LOL.

Funny how anything and everything the conservatives don't like gets blamed on the "liberals". Even though the studio gave their own unrelated reason for cancelling, the conspiracy oriented right knows "the real reason". Does that sound familiar? And, of course, the "real" reason is always, the liberals. How convenient to always have a bogeyman to blame for everything and to know all about the inner decision making process at ABC.

Now, it seems, the petitioners think the studio will bow to pressure and re-instate the show. Because, you know, the petitioners have a lot of power over a private company and think they have the right to tell that company what to do. The petitioners want to tell the company what they must broadcast. Hmmm. So much for "free enterprise". Here's a suggestion if you don't like the programming, turn the TV off or change the station. Why try to be a nanny and dictate to the network? Or expect them to continue under pressure to entertain you? And here is another thought: they are in business to make money. That's the purpose of business. If they can make more money with another show, they will do it in a heartbeat. And why shouldn't they?

The so called conservatives are always playing the moral card or try to blame the liberals for everything, but at the same time talk about getting government off our backs, freedom, private property rights, etc. Oh wait, until their favorite TV show gets cancelled and then it's war and time to force private business to cater to them.

Maybe some of you guys can explain how you can force a company, one that you admittedly don't like, and is run by "liberals", to continue to entertain you, when they don't see profit in it. And while you continue to whine that they are morally wrong and that they are lying to you. I gotta see how this works out.:laughing:

Companies often bow to pressure... nothing new here.

Also, several shows have been resurrected strictly on the interest generated when cancellation was announced... Star Trek was one.

I support the show, I support Tim Allen, and I signed the petition. Yes, the Liberals at ABC shut it down.

I signed it... got to speak up with social media... even if we are old. Pretty much only sitcom we have enjoyed in recent years. Great writing regardless of persuasion. Funny and thought provoking. Refreshing alternative to the typical and tiring Hollywood slant.

I *don't* watch the show (though I see parts of it plenty), and signed the petition. My wife loves it and is quite disappointed.
Much the same thought, I'm not a gun guy, but quite tempted to get a CCW, just because it's a right that I believe in.

A bunch of conservatives on a [rural] tractor forum. Imagine that.

Boggles the mind doesn't it?:) With a smattering of extreme left wing liberals. Who never talk about tractors by the way. Just spend all of their time on "friendly politics". And some moderates. But your are correct in that the majority of us could be considered conservatives of one stripe or another. As for the CCW I have had one for many years. But we don't have to have them to carry concealed in our state now.

Even better.

Your state is seriously considering it. There is the usual fight of course. I believe there are 12 or 13 states now that don't require a permit.

Huh. I had no idea.
We went red this last election, so anything is possible.

Huh. I had no idea.
We went red this last election, so anything is possible.

Back in 1999, we had a voter referendum on allowing concealed carry in Missouri. If failed by a narrow margin. Tons of money was spent to defeat the referendum from out of state sources. "Blood will run in the streets", "it will be like Dodge City", Shooting in the streets will be commonplace (I guess like they are in Chicago now). Anyway it was defeated by propaganda. But in 2003 the legislature passed CCW anyway. "Blood will run the the streets.. etc, ad nauseum. " Of course nothing like that happened. I got a permit. :) So in January of this year, the no permit required law went into effect. "Blood will run in the streets" they said... People in opposition of self defense never give up and they sound the same decade after decade.
