Buying Advice Recommendations for first tractor (Kubota)

Bang for the buck ??? Don't believe it, AND they are not comparable in quality, engineering, and reliability. My opinion only, so no hissy fits, please.

Go look at the Kioti, Mahindra and LS subforums and see how many tractors are falling apart or disappointing their owners. And, consider where some of the most modern steel plants and shipbuilding yards in the world are today. Nothing second rate about those tractors from Korea.

-There's NO POINT trying to educate someone who already knows everything.

Touche. But you really should put in your profile that you are a Deere salesman and Deere owner. "N/A" is just dishonest.

Thank you for the comments and discussion everyone.

The reason I am going with new is 0% financing, I dont want to take on someone elses project or neglected tractor with no knowledge, and the warranty/dealer factor.

I did some google searching for dealers close to me and the new property. There are two kubotas, a couple JD, mahindra, kioti, and MH. I will try and stop by some of them this weekend for quotes to do my best to find the right tractor/deal.

If you plan on buying out of state to avoid sales tax you are more likely to get away with it if you just paid cash as the only records are at your house and the dealership. If you finance your tractor then the company lending you the money will file paperwork somewhere in your state showing there's a lean on your tractor. It doesn't mean the state will catch up with you if you do finance it but a $20k tractor is a noticeable amount of money so the state may keep an eye out for leans on new tractors (and other non-registered large ticket items). Of course if you are going to have animals you could try to say you are a farm, that could get you off the hook for paying taxes (don't know the laws of Indiana). Your father-in-law could have suggested it because he did it but paid cash.

Lots of us have bought out of state with 0% loans. No practical issues as far as I can tell. Never heard of a TBN member having trouble with that. In my case it was a matter of finding a dealer who knew what he was talking about and then wanting to buy from him. He also delivered for cost of fuel and an overnight stay at my place after driving 300 miles and a ferry ride! I'm sure there are some state revenue officials who would point out that state sales tax should be paid but Amazon sold stuff for a decade without collecting sales tax and there were few if any "incidents" involving the purchaser getting in trouble.

Well, I went out today to look at non-Kubota tractors. The Mahindra dealer or lack thereof was embarrassing. We missed the building and had to turn around to barely see their banner on the building. Drove around back to see only THREE tractors. Did not stop to talk. The next closest Mahindra dealer is the same owner and 2 hours away.

Next was john deere. I sat on the 3025e and was immediately disappointed by the seat. Would not want to spend that kind of money and get a poor quality and comfort seat. The 3033R on the lot looked nice but was out of my budget.

Kioti was last. I really liked the CK3510 HST, enough to where I was strongly considering it. Until they told me the financing was 5.99%. Deal breaker for me.

Looks like I will end up back where I started...

The companies change their "deals" periodically and either offer free loader or zero percent or both. Sometimes there is a "rebate" that is applied to the purchase price. If you liked the Kioti then choose the Kubota you like and then go back to the Kioti dealer and ask him what he can do to earn your business. In my experience the Kioti dealers are all over the map with regard to pricing. Some discount the typical 10-15% of MRSP and others seem to think that Kioti's don't need to be discounted when selling against JD or Kubota. Let the Kioti dealer know that the 6% finance is killing a sale and see what he can do to make up for it.

Get in your car and go sign the paper on that Kubota and start getting work done. You could spend weeks and lots of gas accomplishing nothing. If your FIL has already had good experiences with that dealer that he sent you too, then its a no brainer. Get the Kubota.
