Looking to Upgrade an L130 to either x500 or x700 Series - Need Advice

/ Looking to Upgrade an L130 to either x500 or x700 Series - Need Advice #31
Thanks all for the responses and help. I'm going to take a look at a used 2011 X720 62" deck that has 360 hours on it this week - hes asking 6500. I've also found a used 2015 x590 on craigslist with only 79 hours on it - the dealer is asking for $5500 and has a 54" deck and power steering. May try and take a look at that one as well. Another guy is selling a x500 with less than 100 hours on it with 4-5 attachments for $5800 - attachments included are the Cab, Snow Plow, 44" Snow Blower , Chains, Weights, Power Lift..

If I can get the X720 down to 5500 - I should probably go with that one since its a much more powerful machine. But as others pointed out, the attachments are going to be costly. This is a tough decision for me, but BOTH series will work for my terrain.

There's a lot you can do with the x720, you can buy a 3 point kit to run Cat 0 rear attachments, you can buy a kit to have a 540 RPM rear PTO to run a rear snow blower, rear tiller ext. all kinds of stuff to get into with the signature series.

Be sure to post pics of you buy one.

Why the continual push for Husqvarna product on this JD site?

Getting old... and think one thread was finally locked due to something similar.

Give it a rest. pls.

I just pointed out the mower, it's other people that want to defend the deere name all the time. Seems the only bickering I get myself into involves someone who bleeds orange or green blood.

I don't purposely get on JD threads, I search on the trending page on my app and it pops up.

One last question I had about the x500 series that I Forgot to ask earlier.. and probably one of the more important ones: are the K72 tuff torq transmissions serviceable? IE: change the fluid in your own without having to take the entire thing out like I had to do for my L130 twice now. Gotta make sure the tranny is serviceable (I think the K72 is?).

How much did the quick hitch set you back? Without the quick hitch you would be using Cat 0 attachments and your x749 simply doesn't have the height required to run various Cat 1 attachments correctly, Cat 0 is best for garden tractors.

And about that special implements argument you said it yourself, if you want to hook a snow blower, front blade or the hydraulic pivot bucket thing, you have to buy JD brackets and JD implements (frontier) at JD prices where the 1R could buy any manufacturers.

As far as deck height goes, do you have settings on the hydraulic lift? For example if your rolling over raised roots, do you lift to full height? Or do you tap the hydraulic lift and guess at a height that will clear the roots?

I just brought up with 7 height settings it gets easy after awhile to know exactly what setting will get as close as possible to the object without contacting it like roots. I wasn't proving either was better just pointing out which I prefer.

I never compared a Husqvarna mower to a x7xx series mower, I never said Husqvarna was a superior mower, all I pointed out is the higher end Husqvarna lawn tractor (AKA Garden tractors) were not so far apart from the JD x5 series and most people think and there half the price at that.

I am not pro any brand, I am pro having separate machines for FEL work and mowing grass, I'm pro a mower that will last a long time and is capable of a uniform cut at the best bang for my buck. For me that happened to be JD on the tractor (bought used) and Husqvarna on the mower (also used).

That x749 is a sweet rig, unlike smoothas in not interested in belittling people or being disrespectful against there purchases.

This dude is ruining every John Deere thread with his juvenile push for Husqvarna. I owned a Husky for 2 years was piece of junk, bought a quality John Deere and never looked back. Anyway here is place you should be posting BrokeFarmerJohn , http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/husqvarna/

BTW quick question are you getting paid by Husqvarna? Or do you just like starting trouble?

If he isn't pushing Huskys then Bota owners push orange. Thin skinned Deere owners can't catch a break.

Yes. The K72B has a filter inside it that you can change as well as the fluid. It also has a plastic reservoir so you can see the fluid level from the rear.

What mower did you have that caused you issues?

Like I said before I never set out to start trouble but seems competition offends people.

And no I don't get paid by Husqvarna lol

Thanks Crazyal for the extra info on the differences between those two model transmissions - was trying to look for them online but no luck!

I really do like the X590.. looks to be a really nice machine and very close to the X730 (well - if you don't consider the K92).

Trying to be conservative as possible here and get the best bang for the buck and the best tractor for my needs.

People asked me if I'm going to spend that kind of money (4000-5000 maybe?), then why not get a zero turn? I asked them.. have you tried mowing my slopes/hilly terrain?? According to my research.. if you want to get a zero turn that can handle hills/slopes and side mowing slopes, you need to get those high dollar commercial grade ZTRs which are a ton of money. I'd prefer to not lose control going down hill nor flipping backwards while going up hill because I sure as heck cant afford a $12k zero turn. I'm not doubting ZTRs, and I usually see commercial businesses use them, but my terrain is a big dangerous and I would also prefer to have a transmission that can handle anything.

If your slopes are very steep I don't see why you would be looking at a 500 series, you should be looking at a 700 series 4x4 or similar type mower. Having free turning front wheels can be dangerous on downward facing slopes without brakes or engine/transmission braking. Using 4x4 to go down the hill is just as important as having it to get up the hill.

The k92 series transaxle uses a spin on filter about 2 cup size which is easy to reach and change.
