More AT&T stupidity:
So in April my DirecTV contract aged to 12 months. I thought I had 24 months intro pricing but apparently not. My rates went up a lot. I called ATT and talked with them several times at length about how I could reduce my bill. I was told that if I switched from my 20GB plan to 'unlimited plus' it would actually be cheaper for me. I did this. Bear in mind that since starting with ATT I have a discount available due to my employer's relationship with them. Well, turns out they lied to me and even though they told me that 25% discount (on the base plan rate, nothing else) would apply to the new plan it does not (I took copious notes on all details of the switch at the time because I've been burned too many times this way by ATT, T-mobile, Comcast, etc.). Apparently unlimited plans only qualify for veteran/military discounts. So, when I talked to them today to try to figure out why that went away I was told I could switch back to my old plan (note that I added the Mobley after my plan switch in early April). I made the rep dig into the situation to make sure that my $20 unlimited Mobley plan would not change since it ended up being added to my existing account and not as a standalone plan when I signed up. Didn't want it to get lumped into my 20GB cap. Sure enough, if I make any change to my plan and go off the 'Unlimited plus' plan, according to her, they will then either dump the Mobley into the 20GB family limit or start charging me about $95/mo for the Mobley to stay unlimited. I told her to not make any changes right now until I cool off enough to be able to think through the giant cluster-fsck of a disaster they created for me with their lies.
Moral of the story: If you sign up for the $20 Mobley plan try to make sure to keep it separate from your main phone plan with ATT to avoid future FUBAR situations.
And, ATT, you still suck. Hard. But I'm going to milk that **** $20 unlimited plan for all it's worth now. This middle finger is flying high in your direction!
