So I briefly plugged the unit in and it was working, apparently already activated. Then I went on vacation. I'll play more and test in the next couple weeks.

Lies and deception have become the norm for all US businesses. Been that way for years.

Well for many it is the case and that's a shame.

Glad I didn't fall for the big savings they promised by dumping my Dish satellite and changing to some new ATT bundle... probably would have found a way to (Upgrade) the mobley unlimited into a $100 a month plan

ps. has anyone been able to actually buy new Mobleys from Best Buy or ATT?? since the supply dwindled?

considering buying back the 1 I paid $160 for - family member hasn't activated it yet and may not need it.

Sure can be a daunting mess!!!
I now have 3 Mobleys. 1st AT&T, 2nd BB, 3rd AT&T, all activated rather painlessly online. This last bill showed the activation fee for the BB Mobley even though it indicated waived when I activated. Half hour chat got it waived (I hope). In the mean time, my MCell had quit working. Even though I can get decent data, my phone connection itself sux. Several prolonged chats ended with AT&T confirming my MCell had likely bit the dust and to use the WiFi calling feature. Of course, my only wifi is what I pay AT&T. As I now use my phones mostly at home, account history showed I could reduce my MSV plan and almost pay the Mobley data. Except when I got my new reduced data plan bill each phone cost had gone up $5, x3 my bill was $15 higher than expected just for the phones. My third line was an extra phone, the one we had provided my MIL before she passed. I didn't consider the extra $20 burdensome so left it activated. But with my now reduced data plan it was $25 plus $10 for my other 2 phones and my military Discount went from $15 to $6. Enough already, this weekend I cancelled the 3rd line. Will be interesting what creative ways they find to recover that $25. BTW, before I did the Mobleys I discussed the unlimited plus and was told military Discount did not apply.

You should ditch those cell phones and replace the MCell with an ATT Wireless Home Phone. AT&T Wireless Home Phone

I have used one for two years to provide dial-tone to my cordless base station (5 handsets). It just has a sim card slot in the back and an external antenna. $25/month after the E911,federal and local taxes. I only have it because I have a 10 year old at home and want the 'traditional' phone ability.

Paired with my Mobley, which is another $20 flat and my corporate discounts (no cell phone on that plan), I'm paying a bill of $45.

We have a GoPhone for the same use you have the ATT wireless home phone (3 kids at home). You may look into that for an option as you may just be able to plug a GoPhone SIM into your home phone. It's much cheaper, and costs us $100/year since we don't use it that much. We ported our old land-line number to it.

Wow, so no cell phones in your household at all, you my friend are in a small minority.
We are totally off grid, haven't had a landline since 2005. The MCell was AT&T's solution to our poor signal. Was really hoping they would replace it. I'm guessing the Homephone wouldn't fix the problem due to our weak phone signal as I believe it too is 3G. I am glad I can pull a decent LTE signal with external antenna.

I use a Tracfone on AT&T's network (no account) and my wife has her own separate cell phone account with AT&T along with her corporate discount (same employer). This way we never have to worry about her cell account jacking with our unlimited home phone or the Mobley.
