Yes, I am aware of the importance of tow point angle. Chains were attached to the feet of the container and to the tow bars of the tractors. The chain was attached to the receiver ball of the truck.
I think I have some pictures on my wife's phone. Maybe I can get them latter today.

You see the same thing in some of the truck vs. tractor videos. The truck's hitch is higher than the draw bar of the tractor, so the truck is actually pulling up on the tractor's rear wheels, whereas the tractor is putting more downward force onto the truck's rears.

Well, she had the videos on her phone. She made the mistake of letting me touch it. She has never backed up her phone so before I down loaded the pictures I backed up her phone. Only problem was I did it very wrong. I actually put my phones backup on her phone and wiped out everything she had.

I believed that nothing was really gone, so I spent a couple of days trying to find some one who could recover her data. Apple told me it was gone. Lots of companies told be they do not work on iphones.
A national recovery firm told be that apple encrypts their data and they use a key to retrieve the data. When I put my backed up data I destroyed her encryption key. So, no videos. It has been very tense around here.

Don't feel too bad. Went to an AT&T store couple weeks ago having problems with my Android phone. They said your phone needs wiped clean and restarted. They said we'll save all your pics and contact list, then reload them after it's restarted. Great. Had a nice visit with the two young men while they worked their magic. Had 200 contacts. 1400 pictures and 100 videos. Checked out pics and contacts, looks good. Got home and checked in more detail. All videos were gone. Called store about recovery. Nope. Sorry Sir....

Good thing you don't live with them.

Put those "pulling trials" in the dirt where the ag tread will feel more at home.

Or put slicks on the tractor, that would be fun. Condition them with bleach first though!

Just a side note. "Bleach" wasn't really used for traction purposes. One day, I believe it was Jungle Jim Leiberman or one of the funny car drivers in that era put his liquid rosin in a bleach bottle. I do suppose some people used "bleach" thinking that is what Jungle Jim used after that.

MacGregor makes a good point. Other things to consider as far as a truck out pulling a tractor, I believe it's because of the superior torque of the truck engine and rpm capability compared to the tractor engine. The other factor is weight distribution. Once the tractor initiates a load, not much weight is left on the front tires. Another factor is the weight of the vehicles themselves. If the truck weighs even a thousand pounds more or even the same weight, game over for the tractor. And finally as alluded to by others, tractor tires aren't the best traction devices on pavement.

The first is a rigged test. The Dodge appears to be weighted and the tractor operator sucks.

You right, and I think that goes for most of these video. I have done a lot of tug a war and pulled everything from stock trucks to 2500 hp trucks. if equally matched it mainly driver, but there are some other things that can win the match for you. When pulling on concrete, hp it not your friend unless the other guy has more. You want as much tire in contact with the concrete as possible. R1 tractor tires are not good (a turf tire would be much better) its basically a battle of transmissions and brakes. You want the other guy to screws up (spins the tires) first. Once he does... You got him.

Notice in the first video that the truck is pulling the tractor backwards (freely) then the tractor drive tries to release the clutch. That doesn't work on concrete/payment, once you spin the tires it's over. Now look at how much more rubber the truck has on the road. If the tractor driver would have feathered the clutch and the brakes to hold the truck and made him spin frist... he could have took him to the house.

To the OP, it hard to say since I wasn't there, but I would suspect it was a combination of things.

First of all, I have a keyboard problem. The letter betveen the Q&E on my keyboard quit vorking so I vill use the "v".

Ve decided to move a 40' shipping container. 8K pounds. Ve chained to it a 5K tractor vith R4 tires. The tires dug in and spun.
Ve chained up a second 5K tractor vith 4x4 and R4 tires. Both tractors vith 6 R4 tires dug and spun.
Ve chained up a 1 ton chevy 4x4 and got it to move.

Ve had to unchain and reattach several times to pull in different directions to get it vhere ve vanted it.
During this ve found that ve only needed the chevy truck. Only one time vhen the container started ploving 2' of dirt did ve need to chain up a tractor.

So, my question is vhy did the chevy 4x4 out pull the 2 tractors?
The chevy is lifted vith vider M&S tires.

A trick I use to clean my keyboard of debris that prevents keys from working is the air compressor. Give it repeated blasts of air at an angle and the keys dance - but it works. It even works to clear out the dust inside the computer that makes it over heat.

Vell if you vant to see vhat the keys vill do vith 120lb of pressure- don't vait, just do it!
