Agree. I corrected my error in that post (I shouldn't post late at night! That article referenced the Tesla S. When the Tesla 3 is available, that will be a better comparison, since they should be in a similar price range.
I'm for outlawing autopilot in automobiles. If you can't drive, take the bus or stay home.Agree. I corrected my error in that post (I shouldn't post late at night!) But I found it interesting to read deep into the owner comments and find several who own both, and like both for different reasons. That was a lesser difference than I expected to see. Tesla's autopilot features seem to be miles ahead of anyone else, there's no comparison and I would like to eventually own one. Actual road use of the cars on the road today was what that article covered and as I said, I was surprised Bolt compared so favorably. I wonder how expensive a Tesla 3 with full autopilot will be. That's the one feature that could convince me to pay what they want for it.
I have a permanently disabled BIL who was rear-ended like that in Texas. In 1970. His life has been h*ll for 40-some years. Thank God he has VA entitlements to help him, somewhat.I see lots of people where driving a car is a major inconvenience. I wish they were forced to drive autonomous cars. So the rest of us dont have to worry about being killed by the guy/girl behind him that was too busy snap chatting or checking Twitter to see that they stopped for the red light.
I'm more intrigued with the autopilot than with having an electric car. On the Tesla S, it's an $8,000 option, so we'll see. I'm planning to sign up for a test drive, once the Tesla 3 is available.Agree. I corrected my error in that post (I shouldn't post late at night!) There are definitely all sorts of scenarios. We have SO many rush hour accidents due to aggressive drivers. On a congested exit ramp, we have drivers that don't want to wait in line, so they pass cars on the left and attempt to cut in line just before the exit. This contributes to other people driving bumper to bumper in an effort to thwart the line cutters. I swear a computer would do a much better job.Autopilot will gradually reduce this sort of accident and the casualty rate overall as it becomes widespread. Keep in mind the baby boomer generation - the largest generation in history, will soon be ageing into their 80's. At that point all the roads in the US will look like Florida, overwhelmed by elderly drivers. Hopefully by then their diminished perception will be assisted by the car. Kinda like a hearing aid for helping to see trouble ahead.
