AND, no annoying encyclopedia salesman to deal with either!

I think we had one of those varmints around our house back in the 60's.... and my mom scared it away with a broom!

We had a young fox trying to bust into our chicken yard with the chickens just a few feet away a couple of years ago. I went out onto my deck and hollered at it. It ran away. I haven't seen it since. - It is our neighbor's dogs that I don't like, and the deer in our garden. The turkeys are in the back field. Had some moose tracks back in March, but not much else. One skunk.

Hey Rob, "beware the man with one gun ..." eh?

That looks like a typical gray, and whose color pattern is why fox squirrels are called such as much as for their similarly bushy tails.

Around here grays run ~the same or smaller size than reds. What CalG said about size, mostly. 20lb may happen somewhere, but d__ few of us will ever see one 15lb or more.

Here, the gray might have been 7-8 lbs the reds 10 or 12, and the 'yotes say upper teens and lo-mid 20s.

They are typical of what I've seen in 15 yrs trapping. btw, The pic is from last fall, and sadly shows three straight bad years vs one half-decent (no rats, beaver, coon t'all :() On guessing the weight, I only handle animals at/to dispatch and when running a line, never touch 'em again once in the shed. ('Teamwork' ;))

Everyone's "Awww, what cute babies .." is someone's PITA so IMO "you never stand so tall as when you stoop to stomp a varmint." (CarToons (C))

I had to go back and re-read my post, you are right, it's a gray... That's the second time I called it a cross in a post!! I guess I'm getting senile!!

Anyway, like I said, my Krieghoff has been my "go to gun" for many years now, lower bbl. is chambered 8x57, I load 200 grain Noslers to 2,550fps, so it's pretty potent, no problem at all taking moose and bear,

I've spent many a day in the bush, carrying it around, getting the days food and always having the right gun for the job! And at 7 pounds it's easy to carry too... Here's another shot of it,

Shot quite a few Krieghoff Trap O/Us. In general, very well made and I assume their rifles are the same. I am jealous of that set you have.

We had a fox jump over the backyard fence, then sit down and beg.

Never messed with our cats. ~10lb fox, ~20lb cat.

We have fox, coy-wolves and bobcats. Somehow they manage to not kill each other off. I get pics every week of all three. Foxes and Coyotes at night, bobcat during the day.

Great pics!!! Had a yearling bobcat trot past me 100ft away in the yard. Beautiful speciman. Too startled to think of getting out my phone for a pic. :)

Hey Rob, that little kitty looks happy to see ya; did you pick it up and pet it? They aren't too common here, I'm out doors all the time and have seen only two in the last several years.
