I've had multiple occasions of them letting me pet them even though they are totally wild and not in places where tourists feed them. Yet I'm like you, reptiles are out. Alligators won't be given warning shots but may get invitation for dinner.

My hats off to ya for those of you who live in alligata country, I can't imagine going outside at night or go to the lake for quick dip and come face to face with a alligator, not for me.

I heard polar bears are the most unpredictable of bears and at certain towns in Alaska it's a constant battle, speaking of which, is there any TBN Alaska members here?

By fate, my other brother was working the ER that day. He operated on our young man and saved him. I don't know the details of what my brother had to do yet. He just said "We all were very very lucky. It was a big fight with the reaper."

WOW! Hope he recovers quickly. That looked bad.

The town that have the most problem with polar bears are in Canada... There aren't many "towns" in polar bear country, in Alaska.

I was on a phone meeting in my upstairs office today, staring out the window at the barn. A fox appeared. Then another small one. Then a couple more small ones, running in and out of the barn. Then more! In all there's six kits and mom. Cute little guys. They headed towards the chicken coop. It's very well secured but I told my wife to check it out just in case. (there was no problem; we've put a lot of work into making it secure)

I've been working on some trees behind the barn and noticed that the large drain pipe out one side looks like it's had critters going in it. (the barn was built in the 1880s and we have no idea where that pipe leads or what it does). Mentioned it to the wife and she went out to set up the game cam. She surprised the foxes by the barn and the mom charged her a short distance. Wife backed away, no problem.

I'm definitely going to block off the pipe once this set of foxes have stopped using it. I'm not going to do anything about the foxes there now unless they get too aggressive. As long as they're not eating the chickens they're beneficial. We did have some a few years ago that liked to run around the deck on the house in the middle of the night so I'm not looking forward to that.

I have a family of foxes that live in the hills in my back property. So every couple years I have new ones. They end up being like pets. When I'm out mowing they all come out and lay around my yard and watch me. I even feed them sometimes right out of my hand.
These ones don't bother with my dog or do any harm. I guess they get used to us and because food is abundant for them. I have lots of moles, so they are always out in my lawns doing that jump and head-dive into the ground. It's pretty comical.
