No more V8 in F150?

Well, well, looks like the 5.0 is coming back for 2018. Yeah, little V6 just doesn't cut it, for real truck work.

This was an utterly clueless comment.

Right, i goofed. I know the 150 is build at both Plants. I may be wrong, but since i ordered my 2012 Plat with a 6.5 foot box, which was build in Dearborn, all 6.5 foot models are now build at KCAP. Would you know if that's accurate?

No, that's not true. I believe all 8' models are built at KCAP, and I'm thinking all Platinum and Raptor models are built at DTP. I'm not 100% certain though.

As are most of his comments on Ford vehicles. He has a hatred for them that he won't let be changed by facts that differ from his biased opinion.

KC used to make all super crew's that had the 6 1/2' bed. At least that's what Ford told me when I ordered mine. I know they definitely made all the heavy payload f150's which were only available with the 6 1/2' bed. That was before the retooling for aluminum, and I don't know if that's all changed now.

Is it so important to have a light truck with a V8 engine? In Germany there is almost no market for such a vehicle. In spite of the VW diesel discussion we use diesel engines, 4 up to 6 cylinders. Excellent economy, durable and with much power in each situation. The other way: I hope for the Tesla Pick-up truck, full electric. With a farm and large roofs there is enough place for many solar panels for your own current flowing into the wallbox and the home own supercharger.

My supercab 6.5 was built in Dearborn in March 2017. Ford will keep providing the V8 as long as there is a significant demand but after getting the 3.5 ecoboost I don't see a need for a V8.

I understand, I was just pointing out the only specifics based on bed size that I know of. The 6.5' boxes are built in both places. The 8' boxes are not.

As the fleet tests continue to prove the 3.5 ecoboost to be a longer lasting, harder working engine than the V8, the V8 demand will shrink significantly.

I think the difference for which line they get built on is more to do with the frame length/wheelbase than the bed sizes.

I agree. There is a replacement for displacement and it's called turbo psi.
