Rear end popping

I had a popping in my 4240 sounded like lug bolts. I found out it was the front axle pivot was loose.

Jack up the rear of the tractor and see if the wheels are free to spin separately to be sure the diff lock is not still locked in! When turning are the rear wheels digging in more then before?

I want to tell it seemed like tires were digging a little more than normal, but I can't say for sure.

The diff lock foot engagement could appear to be released but could be partially engaged. The lugs on the diff lock could be rounded off semi-engaging the diff lock which would cause a knocking noise that is even and in cadence and rhythm to tractor speed.
As previously suggested, jack up tractor rears and see if you get opposing spinning.

took the tractor to dealer and findings were that the differential was cracked and needed replaced. thank you guys for all your help.
