Any tricks to checking pressure with Rim Guard in the tires? Mine makes a complete mess when checking pressure because I can't keep the juice from spewing out. I check it with the valve at 12:00 position and it still spews out. Last night I lifted the tractor off the ground to get weight off the tire and still had a substantial amount coming out of the valve. It's a steady flow of juice, so the level in the tires is obviously above the stem. Only other way I can think of would be to take the wheels off and lay them on the ground with the valve up, but given how much juice comes out this might not work either. The stuff is wrecking my tire gauges and air chucks.

!2 o'clock works for me, and I get just a little juice feedback. Drip, not spray.

Level surface, right?

Perhaps you have more than the recommended liquid in the tires?

Maybe some residual juice in the stem?
Check by placing tire at 12:00
Inject a pulse of compressed air from your air compressor into valve first, to blow liquid out of stem back into tire before checking pressure with gauge.

If liquid level is truly over the stem and still comes out......I think you're stuck, either drain or use cheap dollar store gauges?

I got a gauge that's made to handle liquids: Amazon.com: Milton S-928 Air/Water Tire Pressure Pencil Gauge: Automotive
It's spring loaded- when you remove it from the valve it springs back to zero.

It still makes a mess. I bring a towel and a pan of water out to the tractor. The water's for cleaning out the gauge. It needs to be cleaned out immediately after each use or the Rimguard will gum it up. I delayed a minute or so once and was barely able to rescue the gauge by running hot water over it and repeatedly pulling the stem the short amount that the dried Rimguard would let it would move.

Mine are also overfilled and spew even when the valve's at 12:00 and the remainder that will always be in the valve's been expelled.

I have one of those gauges but 99% of my tire pressure checking is looking at the tire as I walk by thinking it looks good must be OK.

I use the old hit with your fist test.

If you use a tire gauge made for liquid ballast, constant checking pressure wont ruin it, that's what it's made for, just rinse out after using. I think alot of places overfill the tires with liquid ballast, I have the same trouble with Ballast Star in my tires, fortunately the place only put 22 psi in, I only had to bring it down to 18 psi.

I do like CobyRupert says. Stem to 12 'O clock, 2-3 blasts of compressed air into stem to blow all Rimguard back into tire, check it with the gage. I've found that the extra couple puffs of compressed air will completely clear all Rimguard from the stem. Otherwise, Rimguard will really mess up a "normal" gage.

I do use a special gage made to check tires with liquid ballast - when I'm done I thoroughly rinse it out.

I'll check the pressure on the tires maybe once per year. Otherwise, I will stop the tractor on a flat, hard portion of the driveway and check that the chevrons on the rear tires are making full contact with the ground. This is a good indication that the pressure is around 16-18 psi, which is where I want it to be.

The front tires I always run at max - 30 psi - because I will always have the grapple or bucket on the FEL.

overfilled. Jack up, place valve stem at 12:00 remove core and drain through a hose into a barrel.

Thanks for all the input. I'm pretty sure they're overfilled since juice will come out in a steady stream if you try to let air out of the tire. Doesn't hiss or sputter as if there's residual in the stem. I may as well drain them below the stem since it's wasted anyway when I check pressure. I don't check it but maybe twice a year and pretty good chance that since the stuff is sticky as **** it does a good job of sealing up anyplace that would let air slowly seep out.
